Breath of the Wild will be a Switch launch title

We all knew it was going to be there, but the real question leading into the big Nintendo Switch event that just wrapped up was whether all those prior leaks were right. Was The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild shifted up from a mid year launch to March, nestled close to the launch of the Switch. Nintendo drew it out, but the short answer is yes. You’ll be playing a new Zelda game in less than two months.

Breath of the Wild will launch on both Switch and Wii U this coming March 3rd, revealed at the very end of the press conference. It was accompanied by an insanely gorgeous new trailer, which made everyone forget for a brief second that Nintendo almost didn’t announce anything else that would be launching with their new console.

Breath of the Wild has been in development for years, shifting first from being an exclusive Wii U title to a now heavily burdened selling point for the Switch. It’s looking too like the most expansive Zelda title yet, with open-world exploration and survival elements thrown in for good measure.

Is it enough to sell the Switch on day one though? I’m not so sure, but it’s certainly exciting to finally have a release date.

  1. Zelda and the Switch concept sold me for a day one purchase, even though I still have questions on the technical side.

like: expandable storage size? Is the max SD card size confirmed? Does the Switch support Apps like Netflix etc? What about Web Browsing and Virtual Console, Does the New Paid Online thing that’s coming mean I don’t have to buy VC games for Every device?

What does it all Mean, Basil?

Is it just me or is Ninty still talking a lot without actually saying anything.

Launch is less than 2 months away, START BRAGGING AND PUSHING THE HELL OF THE SWITCH. Start building some hype otherwise somebody is going to have the call the WiibUlance

The only complaint I have about this game (obviously just based on what I’ve seen) is that the game world looks ridiculously empty. It’s all good and well creating a sprawling open world but if it’s just dotted with a few trees and shrubs then what’s the point? Games like Just Cause create these massive open worlds but they’re mostly empty with a whole lot of repeated scenery and you start to see glaringly boring patterns emerging. I’m worried that this will suffer from the same thing but I hope not!
