Local MW2 Prestige Pricing Revealed (unconfirmed)

28 second read

Kalahari Games has apparently announced that the local pricing for the MW2 prestige edition, the one with the night goggles, is going to be R2299 however they are planning on having a cheaper pre-order price up in the morning.

I have contacted Megarom for confirmation but at the moment there is nothing official to announce.

R2299 for a game… that’s a little much for me but then again you do get those awesome goggles that are just oh so useful

There will be a Press release going out when all is in stone. Id hate for info to be wrong. The current pricing announed here is a good indication but as I said not set in stone just quite yet.

What happened to the RRP of R1499?

Why the sudden hike? Also the rumoured $60 for the PC version? Truth?

The Price for R1499,00 was never announced by any official person it was pure speculation. From what we have from the direct source the “rumoured price” was completely wrong from day 1. Thats what I know.

Thats why I say wait for a press release then we will all have the final facts. As far as I am aware MW2 local pricing wont be effected. But then again lets wait for the press release 🙂

let’s keep in mind that you are getting night vision goggles, they may not be top end Army Grade, but I dug this up just to do a quick comparison.

There was a xls floating around the web with that price on it.

It was stated that it is not set in stone etc, but the sudden hike does not bode well for future gaming prices.

I love gaming and would hate to see the industry choke its customers to death.

Its a “prestige” edition a collectors edition not the std edition. Why would a highly priced collectors edition effect std game pricing that doesnt make sense?

Because they see the hype, and know all the Modern warfare fanboys will step over their own mothers for this game..
    So,why not make a quick $$$? :ninja:

so you would prefer it if they just shipped the std edition?

according to kalahari, the std edition has a price of R603, which is the going rate for most games.
so who’s getting screwed and where?

By all means, they can ship edition A-Z for all i care,I’m just saying that this game will cost more(In S.A) because of the hype. It happened when Gta4 launched.Other games sold for about R599 and Gta was over the 700 bucs.

my experience with kalahari, they honour pre-orders.
i’m not saying they can’t change their prices, but i would bet on them not doing so.

    suppose only time will tell

And lets not forget that $150 does not equal R2299.

Why are games still sitting at the R600+ mark, the Rand and Dollar cannot be the justification still? I mean it is sitting at it’s lowest since 2007 and games are still priced as if it was last year?
Come on the only way to make the distributors actually start dropping prices is to talk with your wallet. Its weird where countries with the highest piracy rates actually have the best prices? Not that I am advocating piracy, just we need prices to start becoming realistic again.

yep. The piracy vs cheap games is true.

I’ve said all along, we are way to bloody nice about all this.

We need to burn some trains to get better transport, and download more games to get them cheaper? :pirate:

Take2 has got the Pc version on pre-order for about R400
at the moment and Btgames has it at R360.
Don’t think that’ll change too much.

Haha. Lets be smart here, folks.those goggles are cheap. And,they wont last long. . . ,its smarter to just buy the game.if you really want NV goggles. . . . .BUY EM SEPERATLY.trust me. .it would be cheaper. .for the REAL thing.yes, these are real. .but, based on how much the package costs in the U.S. . .It wont be good quality. ,and. .when you get it,it’d feel like you got ripped off. Unless, you think. . .Activision WANTS to make YOU happy. . .and is making a loss on this package LMAO.

I have to say I am surprised at people really getting overly upset at this, it’s a limited edition bundle that truly offers something unique. It’s also not like we are the biggest market so getting the things here is pretty difficult.

If the MW2 normal versions are also overpriced then I am sure we can arrange a mob but for now lets stay calm

LOL! Well we have to be realistic here… The Games aren’t too expensive… We just pay too little!

Lets make like the rest of the country, and strike for R200 more a month. And convice ourselves it was worth burning down the Voortrekker monument at the end of the day!

Wow, no prestige edition for the Pc????????
Been looking all over for any real confirmation on this,
but no-one seems to know for sure. No-one has it listed
and apparently Activision hasn’t come back to anyone who
asked. That would be a pretty big cluster-f*ck if you ask
    me.
    F*ck you very much. Ouch!!!
