So how do you like to spend your vacation time? Maybe you like to take a weekend to go hiking and reconnect with nature, or do you prefer to just kick back and relax with a packet of chips and some decent dvds to watch? If none of that appeals to you, then maybe you could lock yourself in a small box, seal it and just jam some online MMO games instead.

Jordan Wayne Long is preparing to do just that exactly. The performance artist is going to seal himself off from humanity for a whole week, as he ships himself and his container from Bald Knob, Arkansas to Portland, Oregon from the 1st July to the 7th.

The point of all this lunacy? Long intends to study the effects of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and how such people who never leave their houses manage to reinvent their personas with online games, where they can “enter and exit whenever they choose, be whoever they want to be and feel like functioning members of society again.”

And the game of choice for long as he begins his little experiment? The Lord of the Rings Online, where he’ll be hanging around as a level 40 dwarf character by the name of Townsfolk, on the Meneldor server.

Long will also update his blog and Twitter account during his journey.
