So Mortal Kombat 9 has been out for a little bit of time now, and I’m sure that you fancy yourself as quite the decent player – what with pulling off those super impressive combos for the ladies and what not.

Well, you have the ability to test your might in a full blown MK tournament happening tomorrow in Johannesburg with big prizes up for grabs.

Best part: Entry is completely free. Info after the jump.

Ok, here’s what you need to know:

The tournament is being run by MainGaming.co.za, AWX and Get Hype and will going down at Brightwater Commons in Johannesburg on Thursday June 16 (tomorrow).

Entry is completely free and you are able to bring your own arcade stick or controller to the event. The tournament will be played on the Playstation 3 only, so make sure to bring the correct controller along with you.

All you have to do to enter is to visit this page here and sign up. I’ve heard that registration for the tournament begins bright and early at 9:30 AM, so make sure you get there on time. The tournament is limited to 256 players, but I’m going to say that you realistically shouldn’t have any issues getting a spot.

[Update: The tournament starts at 11:00 AM and registrations on site are only for those who haven’t registered online]

The format will be pretty standard and is set as follows:

Standard Format, 2/3 Rounds, 99 seconds per round, Loser is allowed to change character; winner keeps character, random stage selection only. Winner and Loser Finals will be best 3/5 Rounds. Winner of Loser bracket will need to win 2 sets of 3/5 Rounds in order to win the tournament.

Be sure to check out all of the tournament rules as well as terms and conditions on the sign-up page (sorry, no under 18s allowed).

If you’re wondering, here are all the prizes:

1st Prize: 40” Sony Bravia HD LCD TV

2nd Prize: R1500.00 Game Voucher

3rd Prize: R1000.00 Game Voucher

I will be there tomorrow to support some fellow gamers as well as check out the event, so catch you all on the flip side.
