New Mirror’s Edge Trailer Analysis

Remember that Mirror’s Edge trailer we saw a few days ago? Well someone has put a lot of time and effort into analysing the trailer and has been able to point out some possible gameplay hints and storyline..

I am part of the crowd that feels that nothing in these trailers is there by mistake and it is all a carefully planned and executed marketing ploy..

Having said that I hope the ‘red track’ part of the analysis is wrong, I would have preferred an open world experience rather than a linear running one… however the idea is still awesome.

unless the red track is a “lock on” type system so that there’s a common target with game and human, if you get my meaning there are far too many games with great systems that fail due to confusion…. so it’s just a nice thought 😛

The coloured-tracks have been part of the design since the start and since the first screenshots hit the net a few months back. The colours stand out, and the different colours representing different difficulties of track speaks to me. I think it’s a clever design choice to overcome a problem with free-running action games that involve a lot of tricky terrain navigation.

I’d prefer a quality linear experience over a shoddy open-world experience any day.

From what I saw, I get the impression the “red” works like GTA’s GPS or Fable2’s breadcrumb trail. It denotes the shortest path to your destination.

    Ah thanks for the clarification….

I hadn’t seen anything really about this game before the trailer was released… that makes a lot more sense now
