No Fallout 4 “for a while”

We’ve been hearing rumours, whispers and straight out lies about the impending arrival of a sequel to Fallout. Most of the hubbub began with a teaser website and its resultant Augmented Reality Game that had rabid Fallout Fans poking for clues all over the internet. that turned out to be a fan-made bit of fakery. So when will be hearing news of a new Fallout? Not for a while yet, according to Bethesda’s Todd Howard.

Speaking to Rock, Paper, Shotgun, Howard spoke about the hoaxes, and about the possibility of an announcement in the near future.

“The ARG was very, very well done,” Howard said. “It’s a testament to our fans. And they’re doing that stuff and making mods. The stuff they do, we often look at and go, ‘Well, why don’t we just do that? That’s really great.’”

surely they must be working on it, and there’s an announcement coming soon though, right?

“We don’t [have a timeframe for our next game announcement],” he said, “but I think it’s gonna be a while.”

“We’ve gotten fairly used to all the questions and curiosity over the years. Everyone wants information. Right now, we’re just trying to figure out which of our ideas are going to stick and finding an appropriate time to talk about it.”

Sounds like smoke and mirrors to get everybody off the scent, if you ask me. I completely expect (hope, more like it) that we’ll hear something on Fallout 4 at E3 this year. A next-gen Fallout 4 would do very nicely.

No Borderlands, no Fallout, no Bioshock (anymore), but at least we have other games that comes out every single damn year. It’s been a little bit of a depressing year for gaming thus far……..

Don’t hate on me, but I still have to play Bioshock Infinite and Dishono(u)red. Haven’t touched mine yet. Damn indie games keeping me too busy.

Then you’ve got something good to look forward to. The Dishono(u)red DLCs are also pretty good.

Bioshock Infinite is on my backlog too.

I finished Medal of Hono(u)r SP campaign on Friday. Another done! A grand total of THREE hours. And people want to complain about COD.

I actually looked up game lengths the other day just so I can see which games I can tick off in a weekend. Looking at you Outlast! That game is supposed to be 4 hours, but I couldn’t muster the courage to play past the 40min mark.

After watching Rince & Rock play, I’m not sure I want to start that. I need to decide what I should start next, or if I should complete one of the many I haven’t – looking at you Dark Souls :/

lol right now Witcher 1 and Dragon Age: Origins is on the top of my priority list. Then I will move on to Dark Souls and Fallout:NV. All this between Titanfall ariving and me wanting to start Civ5. I think I’m just going to give up and go play guitar or something.

I want to start Fallout NV again, never played the DLCs or with mods. Civ 5 is also on the backlog heh.

Dont feel bad, I still need to finish Borderlands 2. Just can’t seem to do it, just when I think today’s the day, then I take a Loadout to the knee.

Poor Liam Neesan. His dialogue was only beaten by Diablo 3’s terrible dialogue. Games like that make me wonder why they couldn’t put some of their massive budget towards a real writer. 🙁

I don’t want the same team from Fallout 3 involved. They made an incredible open world with little role-playing ability. Fallout is meant to be a totally open-ended role-playing game; what we got was an open-world FPS where we kill lots of supermutants and deathclaws.

The dialogue was very restricted and full of typos. It was quite embarrassing.

I have a feeling it is all hands on deck for ESO. Putting another game in production now will cost them dearly.

Oh well, I haven’t even finished Bioshock 1 yet, let alone a fraction of my Steam back catalog, so I have a bit to keep me busy until FO4, but, curse it; I love everything they do, even Rage, as hollow as that game was
