Of Course Killzone 2 Can Run On An Xbox 360.

What? Did you think all those reports that you read were true?

Ex-Bungie developer Christian Allen, when asked if Killzone 2 could run on the 360’s hardware had the following to say in an interview with hiphopgamershow:

“Oh yeah, Killzone 2 could totally be done on 360 if Guerilla wanted to. The tech is there, if the team and the publishers were motivated, they could do it, just like Halo could come to PS3 if MS didn’t own it. It really comes down to console exclusivity. The tech differences between the PS3 and the 360 aren’t all that much; it’s really about the delivery of content.”

You know what, I’m actually getting sick and tired of all the lies coming out of everyones mouths these days, it’s high time that these “professional” corporates and developers grow up.

No Sony, please tell us you weren’t lying through your teeth. Sigh.

The things that is really getting to me is that every time that a game is coming exclusively to the Xbox 360 or PS3; Microsoft, Sony, or a development company love to play the “this game won’t work on that other console” card, although Sony is the guilty party most of the time.

How long has it taken for most gamers to finally come to the realisation that both of the consoles are pretty much equally powerful and each has it’s own merits. Why is there always that nauseating stench of BS coming out of the news pages every time that a new exclusive is about to release.

The truth is, that even with the PS3 having Blu Ray discs, developers could easily find a way to compress textures and what not to fit onto the smaller 9GB DVD. Will it look as good after the compression? Not necessarily, but it would probably be damn close, and that’s good enough, rather than saying “it just won’t work”.

I can say with full confidence that there is not one game out on PS3 or Xbox 360 that wouldn’t be able to run decently on the other. It just isn’t so and I would appreciate it if these douche bags stopped trying to pretend that it is.

The next time that you read an article about how a new exclusive game is not possible on the other platform, do yourself a favour and ignore it, because it isn’t worth your time. It’s just more marketing speak, designed to lure you into the hype of whatever new title it is that the marketing guys are trying push.

It’s a waste of everyones time and it’s hurting the industry, because it’s closing doors that ultimately lead to more gamers getting less access to all of the games out there.

For those who are interested, the full interview can be found here.

  1. With enough time, money and skill you can make anything run on anything.

    Worth the effort?

Only 6% of PS3 owners bothered to pick it up… would have thought it to be THE REASON to have a PS3?

“Will it look as good after the compression? Not necessarily…”

i think you might be having a bad day, because in all honesty you are wrong chastising sony/guerilla for lying.
all developers want their product to look the best it can, and to compromise that visual integrity is like asking an artist to paint below his/her ability.
you should probably have a rant at crytek for saying their crytek engine 2 wont and cant run on consoles.

relax, its friday and pub time is only a couple hours away

Well we all know the general public out there would rather buy the next Need for Speed no matter how crap it is than something that gets good reviews.

Maybe try spraying a light mist of nail polish remover on the disk, should be just peachy then! Read it on the internet……

The majority of PS3 owners learnt to wait for the hype to pass and get a brilliant game for a good price.

    You’ll notice LBP’s sales going up…

All jokes aside , Killzone 2 is freaking amazing and the xbox would surely red ring even before the disk is inside.
Just get a ps3 and bow to the power of the C.E.L.L

SCEA hardware marketing boss John Koller has claimed that upcoming multiplayer shooter MAG can only be built on PS3.

“MAG is a 256 online-player game which is spectacular,” he said, talking to VG247 at GDC last week.

“If you look at that competitively, it’s something that’s only possible on PS3. The processor speed, the ability of PS3 to showcase 256 players at any given time, and their actions.”

I think anything that runs on a console will run on a PC, pc’s will surely always be ahead due to the constant upgrades which are available.

    Just my opinion tho.

That’s the point I’m trying to make.
Nothing will run JUST on a PS3,which is what
I got from that comment 😉
That being said,I don’t think anything will run
    on only a PS3 or a 360 either.It just won’t be
financially viable to do it.Especially with the
amount of disks you’ll need for the 360 version.
That’s the only drawback I can see.

LOL, trust Lazy to believe a Bungie developer on whether KZ2 can run on the 360. I haven’t visited this site in ages and clearly notings changed.:ermm:
Question i’d like to beg is if KZ2 could so easily be done on the 360, why is there nothing on the 360 that looks remotely as good or half as technically proficient. 😉

Its threads like these that always start an uproar really. So what Killzone can probably run on hte 360.. But we all know it never will anyways. So why post it? what point does the 360 have to prove ehre actaully. We all know the processors are on par.. Only the media storage that leave us all in awe.. (Would of liked a build in HD DVD) for my xbox.. that would of been awesome

I guess he was using the term “run” loosely. The 360 probably can run it, in a chug-a-motion sort of way. And a couple of extra discs. The 360’s not exactly known for its “exclusives that run well on a console”.

    You boys still at it?

KZ2 is a retail fail whale, for one reason – for all the polish, it’s dull. Like a mousey librarian, she might be a vixen in your bedroom, but no-one cares.

ha, well thats because going from a pc to xbox the coding is very different, neither is better than the other(except ps3 which is more complicated, but ultimately can result in better graphics)besides if xbox and ps3 get exclusives, us pc gamers should also 😛 besides the xbox and ps3 cant handle crysis even if they wanted too…well mabey on low lolol they fail

the cell doesnt matter all they have to do is change the coding and besides no real optimizations have really been made for the cell, and sony normally takes alot longer than expected *cough cough* killzone 2

because they took there time making grey textures that are easy to render but have some little details, and btw the 360 and ps3 have the same graphic specs, based off nvidia equivalent of 7800gt

no you need to scratch it then break it in half and put it in the xbox while its upside down, mabey the consoles would run fairly well with their fail gfx

Hey xbots, don’t lie to yourself, if kz2 (!!) or uncharted, ratchet, etc etc can be done on 360, you already have seen titles with that kind of quality, and obviously it’s not the case….. and not only because of bluray (cell !)
