So after the recent confusion surrounding Sony’s claims of shifting 100 000 units the official NPD stats and we can see what difference the US price cut has had in the states.
Now remember these only include 2 weeks of price cuts and don’t include the 40GB sales as that only got released in November.
So the Halo hardware effect is pretty much over with the 360’s sales dropping by 160 000 units, the Wii sales increased by 18 000 and the PS3’s sales increased by 2 000 from the previous month.
To be honest I expected better figures from the PS3 and I think it is quite worrying that there was not a Haloish spike after the price drop. The only thing left to see now is whether or not the majority of consumers are waiting for the 40GB model.

http://www.vgchartz.com
Wii = 13.87M
360 = 13.19M
PS3 = 5.75M
So the 360 has been out a year longer and the Wii has already overtaken but the PS3 is still really struggling, the latest round of price cuts should make a difference though

@Redzombie, as I am sure you know the corporations are not so keen on releasing these figures… however from what is reported.
Nintendo has made a profit on every Wii sold ever….
Sony is still making a loss on every console sold and as a department it is losing bucket loads on the PS3
Microsoft originally made a loss on every console but from about April this year they are rumoured to be making a profit.
All three also earn royalties on games and with the 360’s amazing attachment rate they are the clear winners in this market. Nintendo mainly has first party games and are doing okay. Again Sony lags in this department but that is starting to change.
Microsoft’s Xbox division actually made a profit in the last quarter, Sony lost neearly $1 Billion and Nintendo raked in billions in profit…
So to summaries, Nintendo and M$ are making money and Sony is losing money. (for now)
