Our game isn’t bad you’re just playing it wrong

The headline is easily the most annoying thing I’ve heard or been told in the gaming industry.

Generally it’s said by fanboys in the manner of “You’re just an idiot who can’t play games” or the evergreen “Well it’s much better on PC/Xbox 360/PS3 so you can’t judge the game like that”

But no this time it’s being said by the developer of the horribly bad horror title, Amy.

Amy has received varying reviews ranging from a 76 from GamingXP to a 20 shared across Eurogamer, IGN and Worth Playing but now the developer has come out and stated

As many of you have already heard, Amy is a HARD game. Some people totally disliked that while other really enjoyed it

We believe this is part of the survival experience we tried to build as we wanted the game to be challenging. However, we actively listen to the community and comments and hence recommend the non-hard core gamers to launch the game in EASY mode (in the settings) for now.

Now I hate to be the one’s to break this to the developers but when Eurogamer’s strap line is

Amy fails on all counts. It’s plagued by jerky movement, poor scripting, weak puzzles and shoddy checkpointing, but it’s also a characterless mess of themes and ideas swiped from a dozen better horror titles

I think it’s safe to say it’s not the difficulty level that got the reviewers bogged down but more the badly developed and envisaged game in it’s entirety.
