I’m dozens of hours into Pokemon X and Y now, and I’m digging the new mega-evolution aspect of the game. And not just because I shout “OVER 9000” every time I do one. Want to assemble an army of Darwin abominations for yourself? Here’s a handy guide on the locations of the mega-evolution stones.

Quick note: Once you’ve beaten the Elite Four and become a champ, Professor Sycamore will upgrade your mega-ring for you. Also, a bunch of these pokemon can only be caught between the hours of 8-9 PM. Happy hunting!

Abomasite

Mega (5)

Save Abomasnow in the Frost Cavern, and you’ll receive its mega-evolution stone.

Absolite

Mega (3)

After completing the main portion of the game, defeat your rival in Kiloud city to receive an Absol mega-evolution stone.

Aerodactylite

Mega (8)

Talk to the scientist in Ambrette Town’s Fossil Lab. He’s the scientist at the far right side.

Aggronite – Pokémon Y only

Mega (11)

In the Cyllage City Gym, climb the wall on the right, climb another wall and you’ll find the Aggron stone in the corner.

Alakanite

Mega (9)

Post-game, enter the Reflecting Cave, make your way to third level below and you’ll find the stone. Note that this can only be done at night.

Ampharosite

Mega (4)

In Azure Bay, find the old man standing next to a fisherman on an island just south of the Sea Spirits Den and talk to him to get the stone.

Banettite

This can be found at night, in the Chamber of Emptiness.

Blastoisenite

Mega (2)

Obtained either from Professor Sycamore when you choose a first-gen starter, or post-game from a seller in the Stone Emporium in Lumiose City for 150 000 coin. This stone is only available every three days.

Blazikenite

Moarmega (1)

Remember to connect to wi-fi and download the event Torchic through the Mystery Gift option, as it carries this stone with it.

Charizardite – X / Y variant

Mega (1)

Obtained either from Professor Sycamore when you choose a first-gen starter, or post-game from a seller in the Stone Emporium in Lumiose City for 150 000 coin. This stone is only available every three days. Charizard has a different mega-evolution stone, depending on which version of the game you’re playing.

Garchompite

Moarmega (1)

At night, Garchomp’s stone can be found near a small tower at the end of Victory Road that can only be accessed by Rock Smashing a wall blocking entrance.

Gardevoirite

In Lumiose City, speak to Diantha in Cafe Soleil who will trade you a Ralts holding the stone.

Gengarite

Mega (6)

In Lavarre City, black haired woman will give you this stone.

Gyaradosite

Mega (6)

At night, go to the south-east section of Couriway Town, find the three waterfalls and you’ll discover the stone in the middle cascading column of water.

Heracronite – Y only

Mega (5)

The Heracross stone can be found in tall grass, at the Route 2 entrance.

Houndoomite – Y only

Moarmega (2)

On Route 16, find the two rollerbladers circling the rock formation. The stone can be found to the south of that location.

Kangaskhanite

Moarmega (3)

 

At night, go into the Glittering Cave, take the first right and you’ll find the stone in a dead end.

Lucarionite

Moarmega (2)

Defeat Korrina at the Tower of Mastery to receive her Lucario who is holding this stone.

Manecite – X only

Mega (10)

On Route 16, find the two rollerbladers circling the rock formation. The stone can be found to the south of that location.

Mawilite

Moarmega (3)

At night, enter Shabboneau Castle, take the left staircase to the second floor and you’ll find the stone just north of the western staircase.

Medichanite

Moarmega (4)

At night. the stone can be found in Lavarre City by a well.

Mewtwonite – Y / X variant

Mega (2)

Capture Mewtwo in the cave west of Pokémon Village post-game, and you’ll get a version-specific stone.

Pinsirite – X only

Mega (7)

Near the Santalune Forest route 2 entrance, this stone can be found in the tall grass.

Scizorite

Moarmega (5)

At night, this stone can be found behind the Abomasnow in the Frost Cavern.

Tyranitarite – X only

Mega (4)

When you enter Cyllage Gym, go to the right and climb the first wall, then climb the next wall on the right. It is on the ground around the corner.

Venusaurite

Mega (1)

Obtained either from Professor Sycamore when you choose a first-gen starter, or post-game from a seller in the Stone Emporium in Lumiose City for 300 000 coin. This stone is only available every three days.
