Post Review of Braid

So a few days ago I posted an article about how I wasn’t overwhelmed by Braid.

Though to be fair I hadn’t played much of the game and I really couldn’t be totally fair to the game after only playing half of the first level.

Well it’s now 3 days later and I have managed to have some more game time with Braid… and I am still not overly impressed.

Yes granted it is much better than a cheap clone of Mario as I thought before but it is still not a fantastic new gaming experience. The puzzles are clever but in all honesty a bit of trial and error works through virtually all of them and the rest can be put down as annoying and not entertaining.

I still need to finish the game but I am not driven to like I was with Portal.

Honestly the 9/10’s and 10/10’s that this game is getting is overboard… It’s a great game but I see no reason why it should be getting more than 8/10. The puzzles are good but the gameplay has been stolen from the classic and it lacks innovation in other areas.

What this does go to show however is that the gaming community is starved for innovation and will jump at the first sign of something new.

Maybe chuck in some guns, gore and sex and we’ll be sorted?

i agree with Lazy’s general sentiment, i think Braid is really good. But not 10/10 good, more like 8.5 good.
