Predicting the Console winner from the Past

Over at GamePro.com they have put together an article detailing who is going to win the Next-Gen console war by comparing launch sales to the previous gen.

It’s an interesting read and to summarise they expect the Wii to triumph, followed by the Xbox 360 and the PS3 to come last.

The above graph is a nice visual indicator on how each of the launches have gone for the systems. Looking at the graph I would have to say that the Xbox 360 is looking very good since it is the only console which started selling more as time went on. The Wii is obviously selling bucket loads more than either of the other consoles and to be completely honest the PS3 is looking quite sad down there.

Bbeing readily available, something which the Wii isn’t, should allow the PS3 to shift more units but it’s sales are looking a bit flat.

(Oh these are the sales for the US only and obviously in Japan and Europe sales are going differently)
