Serious business is going down in Tokyo this week because it’s the Tokyo Game Show and Sony have just unveiled a ton of information on their new handheld.

We have Press Release scans, photos from every angle, Japanese release date, release titles, official specifications and well… just about everything you want and need to know about the system.

Hit the jump for all of it.

First things first, the PS Vita will be made available first in Japan on December 17, 2011. According to Sony there will be… and get this… around 100 titles ready for the PS Vita launch window.

We don’t actually know what they are, so we are going to just have to take Sony’s word for it for now. Or not? What we do know is that the Japan release will definitely see 26 games ready for launch day, and they are the following:

  • @field
  • Army Corps of Hell
  • BlazBlue Continuum Shift Extend
  • Browser Sangokushi Touch Battle
  • Dark Quest
  • Disgaea 3 Return Dream Club Zero Portable
  • Dynasty Warriors Next
  • F1 2011
  • Fish On Hot Shots Golf 6 (aka Everybody’s Golf)
  • Katamari Damacy No Vita
  • Lord of Apocalypse
  • Michael Jackson The Experience
  • Minna to Issho
  • Monster Radar
  • Nico Nico Power Smash 4
  • Project NOELS (download only)
  • Ridge Racer
  • Sawari Ma Kuru
  • Shin Kamaitachi no Yoru
  • Shinobido 2
  • Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3
  • Uncharted: Golden Abyss
  • Yuusha no Kiroku

Not such a bad list eh? I’m sure that most of you already have your eyes darting to some of the big names we already know in that list, like Uncharted: Golden Abyss, F1 2011, Ridge Racer, Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 and believe it or not, I’m actually quite excited for Hot Shots Golf 6 considering that Everybody’s Golf was my most played PSP title by far.

Not all of these games will be coming out in our regions though, which is to be expected, but once again I note that Sony have said at their press conference that there will be 100 games during the ‘launch window’, all depending on what they consider a ‘window’.

Now let’s break up all of this information with a gallery of the PS Vita and some other stuff before moving onto the battery life and specs:

Sony have said that the PS Vita will have 3 − 5 hours of gameplay on the battery, it will take around 2 hours and 40 minutes to recharge and will also be able to do 5 hours of video and nine hours of music playback (if in standby mode).

That’s a little worrisome considering that manufacturers are usually pretty optimistic with their numbers and we are already seeing the issues present with short battery life on the Nintendo 3DS, especially in comparison to devices like iPads which run for hours and hours on end with no hassles. On to the full specs though.

There you have it. Pretty much everything you need to know about the PS Vita for now. We don’t yet know when it will be launched in our regions, and Sony know that it’s going to be a big bummer for them to miss the Christmas sales period, but it looks like that will very well be the case.

Impressed? Very or not so much?
