PS3 games to overtake Xbox 360 games

Gamer.blorge.com has been speaking to an unnamed developer who had the following to say. Well paraphrased but you get the point.

In the end though, who does our undisclosed developer think will win?  While they gave no time frame for the inevitable victory, they were very clear that they thought the long haul champion would be the PS3 for this round of the overall war.

Why does he says this? Well because according to the developer the PS3’s processor is just better than the 360 and currently since the 360 is easier to develop for and since it has more RAM most games are being developed on the 360 and then ported over to the PS3. A few are developed on the PS3 and then ported over to the 360 because the developers are not using the full potential of the PS3 yet. Once they do, then they won’t be able to port over to the 360 anymore and the games on the PS3 will be superior.

Well that all makes perfect sense except for one major problem. Why would a developer cut out such a large part of the market by making a game which cannot be released on any other platforms except for the smallest install base of the lot?

It would just be more logical to not utilise the full power of the PS3 and then release onto both platforms… No?

Could this explain the frequent delays for multiplatform titles for the PS3 then? Perfecting games for the PS3 certainly takes time and in many ways impact gamers to think twice about buying a game which has been out on the X360 or PC for almost 6 months? Would you pay the hefty price tag for an old news game? R6, GRAW 2 & DiRT come to mind.

Too little too late IMO. If it had been out at the same time as its rival console version then I wouldnt argue.

Just a question, i have not seen heavenly sword, but accourding to what i hear graphically it is far better than anything on the 360. Is this true? or is this due to the 360 not having a game similar to it?

Actually the PS3 version of DiRT have left out some visual details to up the frame rate. So that one is debatable.

Heavenly Sword is gorgeous, just shows how a game can look when developed with just the PS3 in mind.

Consider Heavenly Sword a souped up version of Ninety Nine Nights. I am getting it after playing the demo. Its very similar in terms of gameplay to God of War. 🙂

My problem with the guys comments are that they are completely unsubstantiated heresay, and play straight down the Sony hardware hype line, and offer little in terms of evidence.

To the contrary if the PS3 is so powerful that it can soak up anything the 360 can throw at it, why is it that the vast majority of cross platform games to date look better on the 360?

And I’ll take it a step further. Why then does the exclusive, dedicated “3 companies + $20 million” Killzone 2 gameplay look no better than the CoD4 beta or even Gears of war.

Look there’s always a possibility that the heresay could be correct, but I’m more inclined to believe Gabe Newell of Valve, who’s got a decent rep. According to him the consoles “are more similar than some would like you to believe” (paraphrased, I’m trying to find the original) Rather than have the whole internet go off over a made up comment by some fanboy desperately trying to drum up support for his console.

Just wait – Singstar, Buzz, Eyetoy, gran tourismo – the playstation will build it’s demographic in time.

Come on Doobie we were doing so well.
Granted no one can prove which console truely has more power, but you have to admit things do look to be in favour of the ps3. Slowly but surely the ports from xbox are starting to look better than their originals and games such as heavenly sword are starting to prove the hype.
You have already agreed with more before that the PS3 will ultimately win the console war, although you reasons werent necessarily based on it being the best console but rather due to its “mind share” sony base.
One thing I really got slate you on though were your comments on killzone 2.
at 80% complete it already blows the lid off anything on xbox!

Like many people have stated earlier. Its not the hardware that counts, its what games it moves that make it sell.

Take the Wii which Sony called rubbish. Not rubbish anymore, specially in Japan. Need I say more facts?

Maybe the PS3 will win in the long run but not before MS has another lead into their next generation console to replace the X360. Will Sony be able to recover? I only hope so for competitive sake and hopefully Sony learns from its arrogant attitude towards gamers.
