PS3 winning the GTAIV race in Europe

GTA Sales I was checking through the latest European software sales and I have to say that they are a mess… We have had some fantastic games released lately and they are just not getting the attention they deserve.

The fantastic Battlefield Bad Company only shipped 31,218 (360) or 21,355 (PS3) in it’s third week.

MGS 4 sales are down to 51,756 in the last week which is far lower than I would have expected seeing that it has only shipped 884,567 in total in Europe so far.

Though the big win for the PS3 is a little further down in the list. Europe was always going to be a major GTA battleground and by the look of it the PS3 has taken this one.

Right now the current sales sit at

PS3 – 2,193,728
360 – 1,919,583

And with the PS3 version outselling the 360 week on week at the moment it is becoming safe to say that while the race was close the PS3 won.

Possibly, the stats were not out when I wrote this…

I just took a quick look and it seems that the 360 version is still outselling the PS3 version in the States

So much for Bad Company usurping COD4. Yawn. Why am I not surprised by this? Oh wait, that’s right, cuz I said it wouldn’t 🙂 .

I’m not surprised. Many people bought PS3s because they loved the GTA franchise on the PS2. The game was pre-ordered before they could see the 360/PS3 comparision feature on their favourite gaming website/blog.
