So Sony’s decided to gear their new PSP marketing campaign to to the ages between 8 and 15 years, A market that SCE UK product manager, Claire Backhouse feels they’ve not really tapped into before. According to her, “Our heartland is 16 to 24 year old men” but she goes on to say “they always will be”. Thus I trust Sony won’t let their followers down just yet as far as the PSP go.
The new campaign includes a launch of a range of colors for the PSP as well as a community hub (pspinyourhands.com). The beta version of the website is already up and running and is (for the moment) aimed at attracting kids to upload and share images of interest in a 3 dimensional gallery.
But parents don’t panic too soon, because as far as I can tell the aim is not to attract kids using some sort of house made of sweets for some sinister purpose but rather to get users onto the site, where they can construct their own world and community.
