Red Dead Redemption – Cheat code guide

FINALLY! Red Dead Redemption has come back…to Xbox. That was the big retro news this week, as one of the most cherished games from the Rockstar library finally made its way to the backwards compatible shores of the Xbox One console this week. Available from today, Red Dead Redemption is still one rootin’ tootin sandbox shooter with a western theme and a chance to murder an entire species of Sasquatch.

And it shows its age, but not in a bad way. In a properly charming way through the use of cheat codes. Yes, actual cheat codes. Back when Red Dead Redemption was first released, these cheat codes came with a few caveats. First of all, you couldn’t earn any achievements with them active and they had a habit of being reset every time you started a cutscene.

Still, if you were looking to just get up to all manner of shenanigans, they ere damn good fun. Here’s a list of them to activate from inside the main menu, in case you lost the A4 prints that you kept in your desk drawer circa 2012:

• I’M DRUNK AS A SKUNK AND TWICE AS SMELLY – Always drunk
• HUMILITY BEFORE THE LORD – Become a nobody
• THEY SELL SOULS CHEAP HERE – Decrease Bounty
• I WISH I WORKED FOR UNCLE SAM – Diplomatic Immunity
• THE OLD WAYS IS THE BEST WAYS – Enable the Sepia filter
• I AM ONE OF THEM FAMOUS FELLAS – Fame
• THE ROOT OF ALL EVIL, WE THANK YOU! – Get $500
• IT AINT PRIDE. IT’S HONOR – Good Guy
• IT’S MY CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT – Gun Set 1
• I’M AN AMERICAN. I NEED GUNS – Gun Set 2
• ABUNDANCE IS EVERYWHERE – Infinite ammo
• I DON’T UNDERSTAND IMNFINITY – Infinite Dead Eye
• MAKE HAY WHILE THE SUN SHINES – Infinite Horse Stamina

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go earn my favourite achievement in Red Dead Redemption. The one that involves a damsel in distress, a train and some rope…
