The Tony Hawk series of skating games has been missing a serious competitor for a long time. EA has stepped to the plate and has set a release date for SKATE on both the XBox 360 and PS3.

Xbox 360 fans can get their hands on a copy from 14th September, while the PS3 version only gets launched a few weeks later on the 5th October

EA are trying to make it a worthy competitor to Tony Hawk and one of the features are the game controls:

First are the skating “Flickit” controls. Left stick dictates which way you lean when you’re in motion, and the right is your board control – face buttons start and stop you. Pushing the right stick around makes you shift your weight around on the board, so snapping it down and then up should potentially make you Ollie, for example.
