There’s been a Resident Evil 7 demo out in the wild ever since the game was announced back at E3 in June. It’s been exclusive to the PlayStation 4 for all that time however, meaning that PC and Xbox One owners have been left in the dark.

That’s all changing though, and soon. At PSX this weekend, a new Resident Evil 7 trailer surfaced, along with the announcement of demo dates for both the Xbox One and PC (via VG247).

Xbox One owners are getting the demo later this week, on December the 9th. PC people will have to wait a little longer, until December the 19th. Hey, at least that’s just in time for Christmas, right?

If you do fall into the latter camp, here’s the sort of setup you’ll need to run Resident Evil 7:

MINIMUM:

  • OS: WINDOWS® 7,8,8.1,10 (64-BIT Required)
  • Processor: Intel® Core™ i5-4460, 2.70GHz or AMD FX™-6300 or better
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • Graphics: NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 760 or AMD Radeon™ R7 260x with 2GB Video RAM
  • DirectX: Version 11
  • Sound Card: DirectSound compatible (must support DirectX® 9.0c or higher)
  • Additional Notes: Hardware specification target 1080P/30FPS. *Internet connection required for game activation. The game is still undergoing development, so all PC requirements are subject to change.

RECOMMENDED:

  • OS: WINDOWS® 7,8,8.1,10 (64-BIT Required)
  • Processor: Intel® Core™ i7 3770 3.4GHz or AMD equivalent or better
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • Graphics: TBA (4GB VRAM)
  • DirectX: Version 11
  • Sound Card: DirectSound compatible (must support DirectX® 9.0c or higher)
  • Additional Notes: Hardware specification target 1080P/60FPS. *Internet connection required for game activation. The game is still undergoing development, so all PC requirements are subject to change.

In the new trailer above, you may have noticed that at the very end, it says the final demo update is now available. I haven’t had the chance to try it out yet myself, but I’m hoping it opens up the Baker mansion a teeny bit more, and reveals what the hell one is meant to do with that damn dummy finger. If you’re coming into the demo now with the Xbox One or PC, don’t worry, you’re getting the latest version to mess around in too.

Resident Evil 7 is out next month already, on January the 24th. I was very skeptical about the game at first, but I must admit, it’s looking damn good. Here’s hoping Capcom have given the series the proper reboot its needed for years now.

Here’s what I need to run it: Nothing. Because the movies are better than the games.
