Rock Band Beatles CONFIRMED for SA! Pricing Details included!

We posted recently that Kalahari Games had tweeted about the possibility of Rock Band Beatles making its way to our shores. Today we’re happy to tell you that it’s no longer a possibility – it’s confirmed!

Once again, thanks to Kalahari Games we have news that EA South Africa will be bringing in Rock Band Beatles – both standalone and bundled. Furthermore, they’ll be bringing in Rock Band 2 – meaning we’ll finally have the superior, Harmonix-developed rhythm game available locally. They’ve also given recommended retail pricing, details of which can be found after the jump.

The standalone versions of both Rock Band Beatles and Rock Band 2 both have a tentative RRP of R599.

The real kicker of this whole shebang though is the RRP of the limited edition bundle, which includes plastic recreations of the Beatle’s instruments, including Paul McCartney’s signature Hofner Bass. The bundle will also include the software, a microphone and accompanying mic stand, and a Ludwig-branded Rock Band 2 drums, complete with a classic pearl finish and vintage replica Beatles kick drum head. The price for such awesomness? A paltry R2499.

As awesome as that price is, I’m not going to get my hopes set on it staying that way – if you’ll recall, the local RRP of Guitar Hero World Tour before its local release was almost half of what it sold for when it finally hit retail.

Great news! 🙂 Hopefully that price stays low.

Great news. I’m much happier supporting local guys than being forced to import.

That said… I’m highly surprised that you would catagorically call Rockband the superior franchise. I have all games from both series, and can honestly say that I love both equally. Each has their own charms and quirks.

It is of course opinion; but as a once fledgeling musician I just find the note charts in Rock Band to better suit their source.

The Harmonix teams consist of musicians, and I just feel they have a better grasp musically.

Neversoft have upped their game considerably with GH:Metallica though – and if that’s any indication of their way forward, GH 5 is gonna be special.

As a guitarist with 10 or so years experience and Unisa training in classical, I think I’ve got a good idea what you mean.

I found that the difference wasn’t so much the note charts as RBs emphasis on the rythm of strumming VS GH’s emphasis on complicated note patterns. Just different.

    I’ll accept “different” 🙂

As whole though, I’ve preferred the Harmonix-developed games – GH1 and 2, Rock Band et al – to the Neversoft ones, as they’ve felt far more natural.

As previously stated Neversoft is getting better and better at it though.

    Hey,

Nothing has been confirmed yet, at least not from EA’s side. They have no confirmation that they will be distributing either titel. So just sit tight for now. :ninja:
