Rockband arriving May 22nd… No sign of the PS3 version

Before anyone says anything please note this is marked as a rumour and there has been no official confirmation from anyone anywhere….image

Apparently someone over at the Neogaf forums has received a memo stating that the Xbox 360 version of Rockband will be released on the 22nd of May. The prices will be as follows

  • Rock Band Software – 69,99 €
  • Rock Band Guitar Wireless – 79,99 €
  • Rock Band Drum – 89,99 €
  • Rock Band Bundle (complete) – 169,99 €
  • However as exciting as that is the one bullet point that is obviously going to get everyone talking is the following

  • Only on XBOX 360 (PS2 & and PS3 is planned for fall) <– Spring
  • So is this yet another delay for a PS3 title, and a huge one at that? I have to say I am not in the least suprised. Remember I posted a story about Rockband sponsoring an event at the end of March? Where I said

I would be quite happy to put money on an announcement of a PS3 delay before June

Even our resident 360 support doobiwan didn’t believe that this would happen.

Or should we go further back until the 6th of February where I ran a story saying the PS3, PS2 and Wii versions are going to be delayed until September (Spring)?

Now all we can do is sit back and wait for an official comment from EA Games, I wouldn’t hold your breath though as I can imagine Sony are doing everything in their powers to ensure a simultaneous release.

I dint care much for graphics on my PS3 version of GH3, so I might go and get the PS2 version of rockband.
What is the difference in content and will I be able to plug the device into the PS3
      Any one knows?

It would be awesome if we finally get the date for this. I know for SA, EA have said “sometime in June”, but won’t commit to a date.

Amazon.co.uk is still advertising 9 May , but the lack of pricing on the site implies that it’s a guess there too.

      @ evilredzombie

The reason you’re going to want to pick up a copy of Rockband on Xbox 360 or PS3 is because of the downloadable content. Rockband had a ton of songs for download, whereas the ps2 version doesn’t have the option. So it really is worth it to pick it up on one of those two.

Any ideas what us Saffers should expect to pay once it lands ? .€170 is about R2k but straight conversions never work out in real life.

      well we’re usually 10, 11x the dollar price, so that’s $170 x 11 …about R1800 for the full pack. I think you’re R2000 guess is probably more correct.

Of course, this is all speculation, no-one seems to know what’s happening with the PAL version of this game.

@boredhousewife, the last time I spoke to EA they said they were aiming at an all inclusive price of under R2k… However our exchange rate has floundered a bit since then and they don’t have an exact price at this time.

I am honestly expecting R2500 and as much as this game looks great I just can’t afford that..

Lets hope for a reversal in the FX rate
