A launch date has been confirmed and so has that persistent rumour about the PS3 version being delayed.

The Xbox 360 version will land in Europe on the 23rd May with the Wii and PS3 versions only coming later in the year. My guess is September.

No prices have been released yet but we have been told that Europeans will be able to download the same tracks as our American friends, who if you didn’t know have a whole heap of songs already lined up…

I am contacting EA right now to confirm a local release date and price

[Update: We don’t have a local release date yet…. Don’t worry I will keep hassling]

Finally! Ok so Lazy hook us up with a date so I can decide whether or not to import.

It’s not flaembait friday but i can’t resist… meh! I’ll keep quiet I’m sure the PS3 owners feel k@k enough for paying double the price and still having to wait for their games.

I see the UK price for the instrument set reportedly doesn’t include the game, so by SA standards this could leave you more than R2500.00 in the hole.

I understand that this is more than ordinary game, but it baiscally costs you more than a console if you want the full experience.

It’s just too damn pricy, and there’s no way I can justify spending as much as I would on five or six other games on this. You could, I suppose buy instruments one by one to help your cashflow, but where’s the fun in that?

I guess the best option is to club together with some mates to buiy the damn thing and then argue about who gets to keep it at their house.

If I had to get this, I think I’d wait for someone I know to go to the US and ask them to pick up a PS3 version for me (360 isn’t region free).

i don’t think converting the UK price to rands gives you an accurate reflection.

eg. I just chose a random AAA titles
    Amazon.co.uk – 49.99 GBP
    take2.co.za – R542

If you converted at 16:1 … you’d get a fright with the game weighing in at R800.

So yes, Rockband is going to be pricey, but not as hectic as you’d think.
