Black Ops 2

Usually when you hear about local gamers competing abroad, it’s when they are playing a PC game. The Battlefield 3 PS3 team who aren’t a Protea team were probably the first to compete in an international competition as console players. Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong. Anyway, so here’s another tournament South Africa will be competing in as console gamers, this time for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2.

The Call of Duty Championship will be held in Los Angeles on 5 – 7 April where the top 32 Black Ops 2 teams in the world will compete for their share of $1 million. Trials will be held in South Africa for the best four-man Xbox 360 team, no one knows when exactly or how because well, we haven’t been told. What has been made public is that the team will have all expenses paid for the trip to Los Angeles.  So you best get your team ready. There are also some prerequisites for teams who wish to enter.

  • Team players must be over the age of 18.
  • Team players must have a valid passport.

According to Zombiegamer the trials will be held this weekend. This is what the prize pool for the tournament will look like:

  • First place: $400, 000
  • Second place: $200, 000
  • Third place: $120, 000
  • Fourth place: $100, 000
  • Fifth place: $70, 000
  • Sixth place: $50, 000
  • Seventh place: $35, 000
  • Eight place: $25, 000
