Say What? Gran Turismo 5 Releases This Month

Playstation gaming website PS Beyond has reported that an “extremely reliable” source has told them that Gran Turismo 5 for Playstation 3 will be releasing a heck of a lot sooner than some of us expected.

According to the source, Gran Turismo 5 will be releasing in the UK which falls into our region on September 25, which if you haven’t noticed is basically around the corner.

The date actually makes sense, for a couple of reasons.

First of all, the date given coincides with the 2009 Tokyo Game Show. The PS3 Slim is launching just a few days later so it will obviously be used to push the new system in a big way along with bundles.

This also puts the release date of Gran Turismo 5 earlier than that of Forza 3, which Microsoft is hoping to use to push sales of their consoles as well. We don’t have any confirmation from Sony yet with regards to the release date and we probably will not until TGS 2009 but with Sony’s current track record of being unable to keep secrets very well hidden, this looks like it may very well be true.

If Forza 3 and Gran Turismo 5 do launch so close to each other, expect tons of internet fun as comment threads and forums break out into full fanboy war over which is the better game.

Great news, I hope that it doesn’t turn out to be false.

  1. All other rumours point to beginning December. Which would
be more in line with a announcement at TGS.

Is GT5 slated for a global release or are the Japs going to get it earlier than everybody else? I bet the EU as usual will get shafted by Sony with a delayed release.

If im not wrong PSP version is October. December could be quite right and this is still a rumour until we get something from Sony, but releasing the game along with the Slim would not be a bad idea for Sony no?

Yeah I’d put this in the false bin, I think you’ll hear a release date a TGS but nothing more, I seriously doubt it will be released this month considering there is no advertising to be seen in any local magazines. And this is important not necessarily for your hardcore market but for the more casual gamer who doesn’t follow release dates too intently.

i thought so too. a slim bundled with gt5 makes sense, but then again nothing in the generation of consoles makes much sense.

GT5 does not need advertising. It is the Halo of racing games.

All games need advertiting, since there is many many noobs out there that do not watch the gaming release calanders like we do.

And Halo gets loads of advertising…
