Say your goodbyes in the final Mass Effect 3 DLC

goodbye shepard

To many gamers,  the Mass Effect Trilogy was more than just another series of games. I’m not sure how BioWare succeeded in getting thousands of gamers as emotionally invested in a game as they did, but I know it was certainly one of, if not the best trilogies of our generation. Saying goodbye to Shepard and the crew was somewhat abrupt; however with the final DLC coming to Mass Effect, we’ll be able to give them a proper sendoff.

A new multiplayer DC will release tomorrow, Mass Effect 3: Reckoning will be free to download on 26 February giving players access to new characters, weapons and upgrades. The single player DLC, Mass Effect 3: Citadel will be released on 5 March and will be the last single player pack. Citadel is meant to give fans one last sentimental journey with Commander Shepard and the squad, but won’t be free. I guess everything comes with a price, even those last treasured moments, saying goodbye to your precious Liara. Mass Effect 3: Citadel will be available for about R160 or 1200 MS Points.

“The team has poured heart and soul into Mass Effect 3: Reckoning and Mass Effect 3: Citadel. As the launch of these chapters near, the feeling around the studio is bittersweet,” said Casey Hudson, Executive Producer of the Mass Effect series. “We have always been humbled and driven by the passion of our fans for the Mass Effect trilogy. We hope fans will enjoy spending more time with some of their favorite characters — we have certainly enjoyed spending time creating them. We’re excited to release this final sendoff for the trilogy and move forward into the future of the Mass Effect universe.”

Not even a Female Krogan with a full set of tits can milk anymore juice out of this…thing

SAD that in the future only the Trilogy Box set will survive. All of this DLC will never be burnt.

I have never been so emotionally involved with a title as with Mass Effect. It is, was and always will be my favourite series.

    SALUT!

Only finished my ME3 on Saturday. Man, it was emotional! I was playing with me “renegade” Vanguard called Morgana. She actually turned into a semi-goodguy! I couldn’t carry through with the destroy command after the sacrifice from Legion! Damn, this trilogy was good. I can’t imagine a playthrough where Wrex and Grunt do not survive – got VERY emotional in the scenes were they fight and show their bad-assery!

Gonna be sad to say goobye to all the characters, I am definitely one of the people who got FULLY invested in the series. Good guy Bioware has really pulled out all the stops since the ME3 ending debacle. The have totally redeemed themselves in my eyes and then some.

Case and point – This weekend’s MP op was called OPERATION TRIBUTE. You had to use the vanilla Assault rifle and Inferno greades (in reference to Zaeed, one of the ME characters who’s voice actor, Robin Sachs, passed away recently). Once the points were achieved for the weekend, you could set your banner as a picture of Zaeed. Now thats a class act BW.
PS – New Reckoning MP DLC tomorrow – HAS A PLAYABLE GETH JUGGERNAUT…… AND A KROGAN WITH A HAMMER O_o
    Love Bioware long time.

Finally we can get a GOTY version now.

ME 3 was the first game to get me to swap out from the FPS and Racing genre’s and into RPG’s. ME is a Universe in a DVD.

I already said goodbye in ME3 just minutes before the 15 minute shitfest that was the so-called ending. Will this be a pre-goodbye? Shepard suffering from alzheimers?

Farewell Shepard, the Mass Effect series was/is/will be in my heart forever. We’ve shed tears together and laughed, and hopefully we’ll go through all this again with future ME games! WE ARE READY BIOWARE!:))

Evil companies like EA are smart huh. They release DLCS that were essential to the story and they know that they will get their money because we’re obviously going to buy them because all of us love mass effect that much. Especially when it’s the last one where you get to play Shepard since the next mass effect game, Shepard will no longer be the main character.

The dlc is getting out of hand. Game elements that are pretty vital to the story are being tacked on and the price of a complete game is peaking over $100. I’m pretty sick of getting only 3 or 4 hours extra with these dlc add ons, while paying for a quarter of a game. ME3 Rosales about 36 hours to complete fully: the price just doesn’t justify the dlc.
