Shadow Complex, the Metroid-inspired 2.5D action adventure is a great game. The exploration-heavy Unreal Engine powered downloadable game has been one of my favourites this year.
Pity that the leaderboards are filled with cheaters who’ve figured out a way to exploit the game’s code to their own nefarious cheating ways. Developers Chair Entertainment and Microsoft aren’t taking too kindly to people screwing with their system though, so if you’re one of those dodgy cheaters, expect repercussions.
According to Major Nelson, the cheaters have not only violated the spirit of the game, they’ve also violated Xbox Live’s terms of service, and that the following steps will be taken to rectify the chicanery :
- The player will be deleted from the “Shadow Complex†leaderboard
- The Xbox LIVE enforcement team will investigate individual players removed from the leaderboards for potential resetting of the user’s gamerscore. The reset would include all games, not just “Shadow Complex.â€
- Those accounts determined by the Xbox enforcement team to have their gamerscore reset will be branded on Xbox LIVE as belonging to a cheater, and this information will be reflected in the gamer profile, both on Xbox.com and in the Xbox Dashboard on the console.
Ouch. There you go folks – just more proof that cheaters never prosper. Unless they’re using wallhax in counter Strike. Those bastards.

And the point of being on a leaderbord is?
Sigh. I heard you can unlock the full game for free…if you know where to press what in the ‘trail’
