There’s a reason why Call Of Duty is so damn popular on console. And that’s because it was one of the first games on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 to realise that the genre needed to use an overhauled control scheme. It all boils down to one feature essentially, called quick-scoping, wherein aiming is that much easier. It’s a feature that has been abused by snipers over the years, however. So expect to see their long-shot kills pulled back a bit in Advanced Warfare. Blerry campers.
Speaking to 3 News, Sledgehammer’s Michael Condry promised no quick-scoping for any snipers in the latest Call Of Duty game. According to Condry, classes will be more balanced this year, which has resulted in the sniper being tweaked so that they can’t exploit the core gameplay mechanics. This will also make them a bit more realistic, much like their longshot inspirations.
“Let me put it this way, sniper classes are not going to be overpowered relative to their peers,” Condry said.
The ability to master a sniper rifle and be great at it will be equal to the ability to master any other class. We’ve done some things to make sure snipers are not able to take advantage of their properties – for example, there are attachments based on weapon classes that are specific. The ability to quick-draw with an assault rifle is important, but you don’t want to have the ability to quick-draw with a sniper rifle because that lends itself to being a faster, quick-scope model.
We spent a lot of time trying to focus on it so I think sniper class players will find that it’s a really rewarding experience, but it won’t be over-powered relative to their peers.
Naturally, this is fantastic news for those guys in my lobby of ye olde Black Ops who have to listen to a squeaky-voiced teen shriek that he wants everyone to use sniper rifles only. This will more than likely also result in a faster meta-game for Advanced Warfare, as sniper rifles weren’t exactly easy to master in the first place. Unlike my patented “spray and pray” skills with a sub-machine gun, which affords me a kill every time the planets align in a specific pattern once every thousand years.

Well thats why this is called a GAME. If you want people to truly use snipers like you suggest, give us bigger maps and adjust the game accordingly. Call of Duty has a fast paced multiplayer which is one of the main reasons why its so popular in the first place, so slow sniping doesnt really add much to the fast paced style of the game. No one says you have to quick scope all the time, but when the time comes and its live or die, id like the opportunity to quick scope and see if i maybe get lucky. And seriously… AW has got invis and flying basically and now you want people to snipe with that? Give me a break… Its a fast paced game, get with the program, get better or get out. PS: Im talking about PC, i dont know what the aiming is like on xbox with auto aim or some rubbish.

Yea but there are some maps that are bigger. Thats what the different classes are for. That’s when you use sniper rifle. I’ve seen some crazy stuff. Jumping from a ledge spinning super fast and quick scope. Or someone poking in and out of a wall quickly taking hail mary quickscop shots. Thats not wkills. It’s the same with shotgun shooters. All it is is an easy chicken way to get kills lol. I rather use my good o assault rifle.

Id say if you’re dying, some sort of skill is being used. If its so easy or not skillful why doesnt everyone do it? Coz it actually takes a lot of practice to be very consistant at it. And i mean to the point where you think it needs to be removed. I think you need to just accept the fact that whoever it is doing that has no life and given any gun the outcome would probably be the same.

I’ve heard this very same claim every year regarding the upcoming CoD release, and it never holds true. It makes sense though that Sledgehammer would make the same promises as they’ve cannibalized nearly everything else Treyarch has done in particular.
