The sales data is in and Halo 3 did well.
In its first week Halo 3 has shipped 2,634,108 units and help ship 122,834 new consoles. That’s not bad at all but when you look at it in perspective it means that 1 our of every 3 US Xbox 360 owners now has Halo 3 which is amazing.
This is possibly the first week that the Xbox 360 has outsold the Wii in the US as well. However there are some more telling figures which point out how the PS3 is not doing well in the US.
Skate for the PS3 was released last week for the PS3 and managed to ship 29,154 units, however in it’s third week on the charts the Xbox 360 version of Skate shipped 37,900. Also Madden 08 on the PS3 managed to ship 15,532 units while the 360 version moved 41,995 units.
In regard to total software sales the picture is still rosy for Microsoft. Even if you remove Halo 3 they still shipped more units than any other console. That is incredible as most people are happy with buying 1 game a week, or more like a month.
I am interested to see how well Halo 3 sells next week to see if it has staying power or not, I have a feeling it will sell close to a million next week so lets wait and see.

I think it is actually more as vgchartz only track a
certain amount of retailers, and then add some to get to the
number, in this case there was a lot of additional
sales through non gaming channels. But very impressive
non the less. Waiting eagerly on the NDP numbers.
what is also interesting to note is the jump the last few weeks in consoles, a few weeks it was about 50 000
a week, and it is not even the high holiday period of
console sales. and given that halo 2 sold about 2 times the amount of the first week in the holiday season after release, i would give that about 60 – 70 % of xbox owners will have this game by end of December. and consoles in the next 3 month somewhere beteen 2.5 to 3.5 Million
