Sony confirm that there will be no PS3 price cut

Twitter is becoming my new favourite rumour mill as you get to follow the industries big boy and hear what they have to say.

One of the people I am following is Geoff Keighley, the host of Spike TV, and his latest tweet has been

“Sony just sent out a statement that "we do not have plans for a PS3 price drop"”

So that rules out today’s announcement being about a PS3 price cut, the strongest remaining rumours are that Sony will release a new dashboard or that they will simply officially confirm the PS2 price cut.

The PS2 was an awesome console but I think it’s time to lay it to rest now.

    probably gonna make a bundle..

“Buy a PS3 and get a PS2 free, for all your backward compatibility needs! Now we dont have to waste our time creating another pointless firmware update!

    Hooray for us!”

I didnt expect a price cut anyways. I mean they lost like $1.1 Billion already dont blame them really..

Well the PS2 sold 220,000 units in Feb, and that’s money for jam for Sony. They would be stupid to stop the PS2 when it’s mostly profit.

The PS3 wasis making a loss but the PS2 profits are helping to minimise those losses for the division.
