How’s this for a blast from the past, apparently Sony is back in court over it’s use of the Immersion technology in their re-rumbling SIXAXIS (Dualshock) controller.
However this time it isn’t Immersion suing them but rather some character named Craig Thorner who actually helped Sony resolve their case with Immersion.
Craig, an Engineer with a pile of rumbling patents, hired a bunch of lawyers to protect his interests and these same lawyers then advised him to sell out to Sony for an undisclosed amount of money.
However these lawyers were also working for Sony at the time and now Craig feels he was encouraged to sell his patents at less than favourable terms.
He is now suing Sony and PDP (another player in the Immersion lawsuit) for legal malpractice and patent infringement… which sounds pretty serious to me.
Do I think that Sony and the lawyers convinced this guy to take less than favourable terms… hell yeah.
Do I think that’s illegal? No.. but then again I ain’t no lawyer and I have a sneaking feeling this is going to hurt Sony a lot when it is finally resolved.

pffft. the guy deserves exactly what he got.
if the numbnut uses sony’s lawyers, and doesn’t stop to think that he might get himself shafted at the same time, is essentially an idiot.
what sounds iffy to me, is an electronic engineer with absolutely no common sense… oxymoron comes to mind
