Sony Looked At Adding A Second Analog Nub To The PSP Go

We all know that the only thing truly holding the PSP back from being a super-duper mobile headshot machine is the fact that it lacks a second analog nub.

There were huge outcries from the PSP community requesting that a second analog nub be added to the next PSP but as well know the PSP Go still doesn’t have one.

Apparently Sony were listening but still decided not to add one? So, why not then?

It actually all makes a lot of sense when you look at it from Sony’s perspective. As awesome as a second analog nub would be, the major issue is that it would cause a gap between the new PSP and the older ones that don’t have one.

Due to this problem, Sony decided to keep the PSP’s controls the same as they have always been, saying that “The PSP Go is designed to be perfectly compatible with the PSP-3000 and all the games that released before that,”.

For someone like me who is quite happy with my original PSP model, I am quite happy that I wouldn’t be left out when all the new games arrive requiring a PSP Go, or have frustrating controls that don’t really work with the new games.

At the same time, the PSP Go doesn’t really interest me because I am very happy with my old PSP. Had Sony released a “PSP2” with upgraded bits and a second analog nub, then I very well may have thrown more cash at them.

I guess it’s a tough call for Sony. In this case, I think they made the right choice. Let’s just hope that in not too long they announce a new PSP with all of the nifty stuff.

They had better not take too long because the Xbox 360 is already known for having tons of shooters on it and if Microsoft do decide to get involved in the mobile market, there is a good chance that they may plan on being the first mobile platform that properly handles shooters.

Can you say “Halo Mobile” as a launch title? If it was my call, I would call it “There’s a Master Chief In My Pocket”.

Ya, they were so incredibly late to that party. I don’t think I have ever even known someone who has a zune to be honest
