Sony Offers Shops Prizes For Pushing PS3 Units

Now I have no idea how legal this would, be but I am pretty sure Microsoft and Nintendo are busy finding out, but it seems like Sony is offering extra incentives to Gamestop staff to push the PS3.

For the top store in a region the manager is being given 30,000 reward points (yeah we don’t know what they are) and if you are the top manager in the entire franchise you get an extra 10,0000.

According to this flyer

Sony is sponsoring a PS3 hardware sales contest.

So the next time you pop into your local shop and ask them which console is better just remember they could be lying to win prizes…

Just drop the price of the PS3, no justification for such actions would be necessary if Sony cut the price of the BR player by $100.

As much as I enjoy castigating Sony, spiffs, incentives and sales contests happen all the time. I used to make out like a bandit on free product and cash prizes when I worked in commission retail electronic sales, so there’s nothing sinister about it.

The fact remains however, that if Sony was on their game, the PS3 would fly off shelves, and it wouldn’t need to be incented, so there you go.

But it is horribly immoral really, how can you be expected to trust anyone who is obviously only pushing there own agenda?

No contest there against Ruslan’s comment. Hell I worked into an Incredible Connection once when AMD was kicking Intel’s ass and I asked the salesperson, which processor is better, the answer the Intel. I continued to argue with him for 30 minutes and to my disbelief he actually opted to show me “how much better” Intel was to an AMD. So I went along, and he showed me a benchmark on one of their “Intel” machines. Quite impressive I must admit, until I went to the system properties and saw it was actually an AMD.
