Sony pushing for exclusive trophies

I got me a trophy A Saints Row developer has been chatting to Videogamer.com about all things Saint Rowish and the discussion of trophies obviously came up as well.

Dan Sutton, the developer, has said that Sony have been pushing developers to give the PS3 version of games some exclusive trophies and not to just mimic the current Xbox 360 achievements.

Now honestly I don’t think that it makes much difference but it may be cool to be able to compare your 360 achievements to your friends PS3 trophies…

But you can see why they don’t want to be seen as purely copying the 360 guys on this one, however the side effect here is that the 360’s achievements are also going to be exclusive again.

So everyone’s a winner.

I was thinking about this whole achievement thing and how badly designed it is. The only thing it offers you is a bunch of points that you can’t do anything with. They should allow us to buy stuff from Live(when it’s available here) or instead use it to unlock items in the game 😕

They will never give you “MS Points” for GS. Unlocking in-game items is an option (which some games have used, but this is the developers fault for not taking intitiative).

Going forward, Achievements will unlock accessories for your Mii-too Avatar. (or so the rumours go).

I think there is some merit in having “Exclusive” trophies, especially the platinum ones.

The “Achievement Unlocked” pop-up is reward enough for me.

I cant care less for trophies, I buy the game to play the game, not to collect some tropy or achievement point.
