Sony has revealed that they are going to officially announce a new head mounted display for the PS3 at TGS this October and have revealed that a select portion of the public at TGS are going to be given a chance to try out their new 360 degree experience themselves.

The idea of head mounted displays is nothing new but yet no one has yet been able to perfect the experience for anyone who doesn’t have perfect vision or requires glasses so it’s going to be interesting to see how Sony has tackled that angle.

I also couldn’t ever try this with Darryn and Geoff around as you just know they’d do something stupid while I had this thing on my head but I guess in the safety of my own home the idea of being entirely immersed in top quality HD gaming is as close as we’re going to get to a Holodeck anytime soon.

The actual device itself looks awesome and now I’m really jealous that once again we’re not going to make it to TGS… the only downside I can see is that I still get confused about where the X is on the dualshock at times and now I can’t glance down and check..
