PS3 makes money

You can virtually hear the sigh of relief from the top of Sony on this one.

The latest financials have been released and the Sony Gaming Division is back into the black and has made a profit between the quarter of April and June.

Sales were up and I am sure MGS helped push the profit up to $50 million… Not bad.

However the total profit for Sony has dropped by 50% down to $326 million. Seriously I wouldn’t be crying into my beer if I only made a profit of $326 million.

Most of the drop in profits are blamed on the lack of blockbusters for Sony Pictures and the poor results from the Sony Ericsson mobile department.

50% drop in net profit would make me cry like a soddin’ baby! Imagine having your salary halved, Lazy – now I know they aren’t exactly the same thing – but for shareholders, that is pretty much what that is.

Ouch. They’ll recover, though. That reminds me, I should probably watch Spiderman 3 sometime…
