Sorry for the outage

I am sure you noticed that we were down earlier for a while.

At first it seemed to be due to a surge in real traffic but it quickly became apparent that we were under a Denial of  Service attack. Thankfully they didn’t succeed for long and Lazygamer.co.za now lives on a more powerful server to try avoid a repeat.

Hopefully things will be back to normal now and the site will be faster as well which is a bonus.

Once again apologies and yes were are investigating if it had anything to do with the new price increase story 🙂

I for one welcome our future robotic overlords

I guess this is a blue Monday. First the price increases and now the site going down 🙁

  • Thomeval

@Fox1: At least the outage was temporary…

  • doobiwan

Darn internet gremlins, bin chewin on them toobs agin!

  • LazySAGamer

Nah not Gremlins. It was a highly unpleasant DoS attack…

Still trying to see where it came from originally but I don’t rate my chances.

More than likely just some idiotic script kiddies

  • sabagamma

Stupid idiots. Who in their right mind DDS a gaming blog?

  • Miktar

I doubt it was a DDOS attack – it was probably just the traffic from N4G after the Army of Two review was linked to from there.

  • LazySAGamer

@Miktar, That was the first presumption but on checking the logs it was not the case… N4G only sends a few thousand hits while we were receiving 1 hit ever 4 milliseconds…

None of them had a referrer either

  • doobiwan

It’s the NIA I tell you! They heard something about South Africa and mecenaries together and tried to supress. Fight the man I tell you, Viva La Resi… viva la Gears of War! 😉

  • Fox1

Dooobi you better get your chainsaw revving and your Lancer equipped, it’s gonna be a party. Just carry a helmet this time round 😉
