Black friday south park

There is actually a lot of meaning in Black Friday. Back in the day, stores weren’t meant to punt their Christmas shopping until after Thanksgiving. As the first day after Thanksgiving, and a crucial shopping day during a long weekend, Black Friday was born – though its history is darker than that. It was such a popular shopping day that urban legend claimed that no matter how far in the red your books were as a retailer, by the end of that first shopping Friday, your books would be back in the black. Of course, now we just use it as a chance to grab ridiculously impressive deals on all the goodies we want to buy. So, whether you’ve been waiting for a new generation console, or a new TV, or to stock up on groceries, we’ve got all your deals right here.

First up is this absolutely insane sale from WeChat. You can get a 500GB Xbox One with FIFA 17 for a shocking R1999. Seeing as FIFA alone is poised to go on sale during Black Friday for about R700, that means you’re picking up the console for about R1300. There are only 200 units, and you will need to purchase it with your WeChat Wallet, so you’d best get that set up for fast fingers first thing Friday morning.

If you don’t want an Xbox One, you could also get a PlayStation 4 Slim with DOOM, Valentino Rossi Racing and God of War 3 for R3549 – there are only 120 of these, though, so fastest fingers win. WeChat appears to be partnering with Incredible Connection for this deal, so it seems that you won’t even have to pay shipping on these, um, incredible deals.

If you don’t want to set up a WeChat account, or you don’t like loading real money into a virtual wallet, you can just opt to go to your local retailer like BT Games, Takealot.com (yes, I know it’s online but Cape Town people can visit their warehouse for collection), Game4U, Musica, Dion Wired, Game, C.N.A and Makro stores to pick up a 500GB PS4 for R3999 this Friday. Once you have your shiny new PS4, I highly recommend getting PS+, or at least the free trial of it, so that you can get a whole host of fantastic deals on games.

Xbox is offering an even more aggressive sale, not just this Friday but for the weeks to come as well. You can get an Xbox One with a new game for R3999. Once you have that Xbox One, you’ll need to get some games for it, so it’s a good thing there’s a ridiculous sale lined up for you there as well.

If you need Xbox Live Gold, you can grab a 3 month subscription as part of Bid or Buy’s Black Friday line up, as well as a plethora of other goodies – someone please buy me that MacBook Pro!

But wait, there is still so, so much more. HiFi Corp is promising up to 80% off on a huge range of goods. If you’re looking for a TV, they really might be your best bet. So keep your eyes glued to their site or go visit one of their stores. Makro is also getting rid of their stock of TVs, and you can check out their extensive Black Friday catalogue here, although you may need to zoom in a bit. The same goes for the likes of Game, who have deals posted for today with teases for Friday and Monday.

Evetech is also going to be running some cool promotions for Black Friday, or so it seems. They have a nifty countdown clock and I’ve heard rumors about great deals on notebooks and components, but we will have to wait and see just how impressive those discounts will actually be. The same goes for WootWare – this point they are just a clock tease, so we will need to see what deals actually materialize for Friday.

Oh, and Samsung is celebrating Black Friday with discounts on TVs and phones. that KS8000 is probably the best HDR capable UHD TV in its class, especially for games – so perfect if you’re eyeing a PS4 Pro. Or, if you’re looking for less adult toys, Toys R Us is running some pretty cool specials, including 25% off LEGO which I might have to go check out.

But it’s not just tech, appliance or gadget stores getting in on the fun. Checkers was one of the original great local Black Friday deal purveyors, and they are at it again. Deals vary depending on your location, so you’ll want to check your locale specific offers, but I’m inclined to stock up on toilet paper, baby wipes, dishwashing liquid and toothpaste. Exciting times, eh? Similarly, Pick n Pay has some province specific deals going on for Black Friday which may lead me to stock up on cleaning supplies and whole chickens.

Clicks and Dischem are also getting in on the action, although Clicks’ sale is all done online and lasts the whole weekend. And if you need new clothes, Zando is offering up to 80% off in their Black Friday sale, too.

I’m tired just thinking of all that shopping. But if you see any deals that I’ve missed, please let me know and we will update this post. Or at least instruct people to read your comment.

I am still having a few lolz over the fact that there are only 120 PS4 for that price, a price that is really not even that low xD

Standing at just over 400GB so far for this month and still no throttling. 😛

I don’t get throttled, but I’m moving, and apparently even though I’m moving to an area that has coverage, there’s still a chance they’re gonna block my sim. Because nobody ever moves.

If you can try to wait till march next year. AMD is bringing out their much anticipated Vega cards and Nvidia also teased something big. Should bring current GPU prices down quite a bit.

Hows that wombo combo deal on Origin for BF1 & TF2? Very enticing but the lack of servers is putting me off 🙁
