Starcraft 2 unplayable in South Africa?

So possibly the most anticipated strategy game in years is coming up to its release and the minimum requirements are starting to appear.

The only official minimum requirement so far is Pixel Shader 2… I don’t even know what that is?

Anyway I do know what a minimum requirement of ADSL 1 Mbit means.. it means that very few people in South Africa are going to be able to play this game online, hell it means that many people around the world are going to struggle to play this game online.

This is just another step in the growing chasm between the EU, US and the rest of the world… Lets hope the rumour isn’t true.

    I highly doubt those specs. Blizzard already slammed that rumour as far as I know. I’d rather wait for official specs.

    Remember, this is blizzard, no crytek. If you can play WoW, COD4 or UT3 online, I’m sure you’ll be able to play SC2.

    I don’t think it will really effect the guys on 512 or 384k. Also SC is awesome for lans as well as online.

    It’s unconfirmed so hold onto your pitchforks. Heaven forbid I need to go to a LAN to play it and actually have to look at you bunch of ugly mugs. 😉

    let me ask you this
    blizzard stated that for time being thay are not planing on supporting lan in sc2 so you don’t have that option either damm that suckes thay say that it promotes piracy then again forcing people to get internet isn’r realy going to help the matter south african internet is just to expensive

      How can it promote piracy if at any LAN you find 80% of the games are pirated anyhow? I support Blizzard’s incentive as it might make PC gamers buy their games for a change instead of copying from their buddy for a LAN session.

    Actually Starcraft 2 South Africa is thriving, if you know where to look.

    Have you even tried the beta yet? Plays just fine, in fact for the first time ever South African pro Starcraft players can now compete against the likes of legends like WhiteRa.

    Get your fact straight before you jump to wild conclusions imo.

    You may want to check the date on posts before saying things like we jumped to wild conclusions…

    Yes Starcraft 2 is playable in SA now but this post was made over 2 years ago 😉
