Steam is having a very sneaky sale right now

Sneaky-kitty

I am a sneaky bastard. No really, I totally am. I have a hidden talent for being about as quiet as negative coverage of the ANC on SABC. If I felt like it, I could ninja right up behind you and you’d never know that I was there.

This has backfired spectacularly on me in the past however, as I happen to have a size 12 spanner indentation in my face after I decided to give my dad a scare in the garage. Clearly, I need to be better. Clearly.

Maybe the latest Steam sale can give me a few pointers towards being even sneakier. Being bastardier, shouldn’t be too difficult, something that I’m certain that I can handle on my own.

You’ve got until October 16 to get your hands on the following games, some of which are going for up to 90% off the cover price. There’s quite a few gems here in the list below. You’ve got my favourite Splinter Cell, Conviction, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Monaco and the greatest game of all time in that one Earth dimension where I’m not seen as a joke, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance.

By the way, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is about as stealthy as a 1990s modem. It’s still the best game on this list however, and I’ll fight anyone in a dark alley who disagrees with me. Here’s the full list, and a link:

Something wrong gentlemen? You come here prepared to read the words of a madman, and instead found a lunatic obsessed with comics, Batman and Raul Julia’s M Bison performance in the 1994 Street Fighter movie? Fine! Keep your bio! In fact, now might be a good time to pray to it!

  • Commander JJ of the Normandy

I’ve already indulged, but just because the one game came highly recommended.
And stealth games are pretty much one of my favourite type of games.
Next up is the Halloween sale, which is usually quite a big one.

  • Commander JJ of the Normandy

That new Thief really was such a bad one. It just felt so generic.

    • Alien Emperor Trevor

Yeah? Well, you got a bad W3 ending!

I really enjoyed the Thief reboot.

      • Commander JJ of the Normandy

Sies. That was just mean. Don’t you have a heart? …wait…forget I asked.
It wasn’t terrible, but I played it soon after I played Dishono(u)red, which didn’t help it much. And considering where it came from, it didn’t have that same atmosphere.

      • Grand Admiral Chief

He just sucks at making life choices

        • Commander JJ of the Normandy

Wow, you guys aren’t holding back today.
But it’s okay. A woman at work here offered me some energy fizzy tablet earlier because I said I was tired and now I can taste rainbows and hear colours. So this doesn’t affect me that much at the moment.

          • Grand Admiral Chief

            Can you see a Lenny?

          • Commander JJ of the Normandy

I have lived a Lenny, no reason to see it again 😉

          • Grand Admiral Chief

            xD

  • Alien Emperor Trevor

I’ve completed 27 of those, I think that’s a record for a list of Steam games. Normally they remind me just how big my gaming backlog is.

    • Commander JJ of the Normandy

I’ve completed 18 of them, with three still on the backlog.

      • Alien Emperor Trevor

I’ve got 6 on the backlog, half of which are 3 newest Splinter Cells, and 2 I’ve just recently started – Gunpoint & Metal Gear: Revengeance.

        • Commander JJ of the Normandy

You have to play those Splinter Cell games. Tom Clancy deserves it. They’re good. Well. Double Agent isn’t. Conviction is alright. But Blacklist is decent.
Gunpoint should take you only a few hours to complete.
I still have to finish Betrayer and then still need to play ACIII and now Mark of the Ninja (after I just bought it)

          • Alien Emperor Trevor

MotN is awesome. I actually started Double Agent many years ago, but when my PC crashed I never got back into it – I’ve always enjoyed the SC games though.

          • Commander JJ of the Normandy

Just about every person on my Steam games list has MotN, so I had to give it a go now.
The only people who don’t have it are the same people who don’t have Witcher 3, so that made it obvious that MotN would be a good choice.

          • Grand Admiral Chief

            The math is sound

          • Alien Emperor Trevor

It’ll surprise you. It’s an awesome side scroller that happens to have a great story too.

          • Commander JJ of the Normandy

            I’ve been devouring side-scrollers lately.

          • Grand Admiral Chief

Better gameplay than VH, but not better story

          • Commander JJ of the Normandy

            Van Helsing?
            Nah, I don’t know hey.
But Valiant Hearts has a great story though 😉

      • Grand Admiral Chief

17 here, no idea what is on the backlog, IT IS SO HUGE (that is what she said as well)

        • Commander JJ of the Normandy

I have an excel sheet with my backlog games on, it’s the only way I can keep track of what I’ve played and what I still need to play.

          • Grand Admiral Chief

Pity you don’t have an excel sheet with your silly choices in Witcher 3

          • Commander JJ of the Normandy

            Witcher 3 isn’t a quantifiable game Admiral.
            It’s art.

          • Grand Admiral Chief

            #BadChoiceJJ

          • Alien Emperor Trevor

You know you can assign categories to your Steam games right? ;P

I have one called “completed”, if it’s not in there, it’s not… completed.

    • VampyreSquirrel

      Finished 17 of them 😛

      • Alien Emperor Trevor

        I WIN!

        • VampyreSquirrel

          Or do you?

          • Grand Admiral Chief

            xD

          • Alien Emperor Trevor

            #foreverStealthyPlayer

          • Commander JJ of the Normandy

It’s because your stealth is so amazing that you’ve become #foreverSP
They just think you’re not there when you are O_O

          • Grand Admiral Chief

          • Commander JJ of the Normandy

            haha

      • Grand Admiral Chief

        Likewise

  • Commander JJ of the Normandy

    Darryn…
    It’s Betrayer
    Not Betrayal 😉

  • Alien Emperor Trevor

Hey look D, NO BATMAN GAMES. Batman is not sneaky – CONFIRMED.

    • Grand Admiral Chief

      HA!

  • Grand Admiral Chief

    MotN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Yondaime

Ok so I hate Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance (See you in the alley).
I’m definitely getting some of my favs just for steam. I wana try a Splinter Cell game though. Decisions decisions…

    • Commander JJ of the Normandy

Splinter Cell Conviction is easy to get into, but it’s not a proper Splinter Cell game. It’s a bit too arcade. Blacklist is really good. And obviously Chaos Theory is just excellent, but it is dated, so tread lightly.

  • VampyreSquirrel

Might pick up Party Hard… will see.

    • Commander JJ of the Normandy

I’m also still looking at that one. It’s been on my wishlist for a while.

      • VampyreSquirrel

I caved and got DE: HR as well

        • Commander JJ of the Normandy

Which is almost close to being near as good as the original 😉
Damn, now that Part Hard is leering at me.

          • Grand Admiral Chief

            *Party

          • Commander JJ of the Normandy

            *pooper

          • Grand Admiral Chief

            Sarlacc, get in!

          • Commander JJ of the Normandy

            Thanks for the invite.

        • Grand Admiral Chief

The Director’s Cut? Rather get this above the base version

          • VampyreSquirrel

            Yep, it is dat one.

          • Grand Admiral Chief

            Good man!

          • Alien Emperor Trevor

I haven’t bought the DC because I refuse to buy a glorified patch.

          • Grand Admiral Chief

If that is a “patch”, then more games need to follow that approach

          • Alien Emperor Trevor

That’s crazy talk. The main things the DC does over the base game is fix the rubbish boss fights & give a NG+ option, and if you already had the base game, you had to fork over more cash. Nope. No chance in hell.

          • Commander JJ of the Normandy

I have to agree with you on this. It’s really not worth that price for the limited amount that it does.

          • Grand Admiral Chief

Well, I guess since I got the DC for free, is why I’m not bothered actually.

However, the DC is far superior to the base game

          • Commander JJ of the Normandy

I wonder who would have been so kind as to give you that game

          • Grand Admiral Chief

Indeed, that might be why I’m still keeping his filthy secret

  • VampyreSquirrel

    #Caved

  • Greylingad[CNFRMD]

One of the most striking scenes in gaming was in Splintercell Conviction where Sam puts his daughter to sleep and hears someone in the living area, he then does what he does best, only to hear the door creak open behind him with his daughter asking, “Daddy, what did you do to them daddy?”. As uncomfortable as that was, it gave a slight glance at what Sam would do to protect his only child… Funny how gaming has made human life cheap….

    • CypherGate

I remember that scene. Was really awesome!

      • Greylingad[CNFRMD]

What caught me though were those interrogation scenes, how good were they!?

    • Commander JJ of the Normandy

Sam is one of those really memorable protagonists.
      Love the Splinter Cell series.
Thought Conviction wasn’t quite as good as the other in gameplay, it made up for it in story

      • Greylingad[CNFRMD]

Michael Ironside was the perfect voice for Sam, the dark and twisted sense of humour he brought with it just made the character perfect, I remember knocking a dude out against a wall and the character quirked “Wall, this is a face, face meet wall….”

        • Commander JJ of the Normandy

I agree. He is Sam in my mind. Suits it perfectly.

          • Greylingad[CNFRMD]

Yep! I was quite disappointed with the new guy, Eric…Pete…John…something… He tried his best in Blacklist, but that course whisky cigar vocal capability wasn’t there, it didn’t speak of years worth of experience drinking the horrid things he’d seen away….

          • Commander JJ of the Normandy

Haha. Agreed. Blacklist itself was at least a decent game. And quite a bit of fun to play co-op

          • Greylingad[CNFRMD]

It was awesome, I loved the execute in motion thing, the one or two times I managed to pull it off at least, but the co-op was fantastic, especially the coordinated takedowns….

  • Audacity (or-das-it-eeee-eee)

Skyrim is so sneaky it actually sneaked onto the list without going on sale.

  • Nikola

Ahhhh these are the times I wish I had a PC freaking steam and they discounts! I have to pay R800 for everything…

  • Viking Of Science

Life Hack: Pick up Deus Ex (OG) Goty, download the Rivision Mod (released today) play game, WIN at life.

    • Viking Of Science

(The Rivision mod is available through Steam, btw)
