Street Fighter IV gas been released in Japan and has been met with an incredible amount of love from the local gamers.

The title went on to sell 86 000 units across both platforms on its first day. To give you a good idea of how impressive that is, Soul Calibur, the current record holder for a fighting game across all platforms is currently leading with 92 000, meaning that yes, Street Fighter IV nearly took SCIV’s crown on its opening day.

In case you are wondering, of all 86 000 sales, the PS3 accounted for 58 000 of them ( roughly two-thirds) Proving that the PS3 is definitely still the dominant HD console in Japan.
