Take a look at FIFA 17’s most realistic faces, and PC specs

Like most of the company’s games, EA’s newest FIFA game has switched over to DICE’s Frostbite engine, allowing for a lot more graphical fidelity, especially where things like facial animation are concerned. In a new video showcasing just that, EA has shown off the tech, along with its face scanning features. The video shows off FC Bayern stars in FIFA 17, including Neuer, Lewandowski, Costa, Coman, and Müller.

It looks pretty good! Take a look:

We spoke to the game’s Lead Producer, Sebastian Enrique at E# this year, and this is what he had to say about the switch to Frostbite.

“The first thing you gotta think about Frostbite is collaboration and opportunity. Dragon Age, a Bioware game, is on Frostbite. Battlefield, a Dice game, is on Frostbite. They’ve all brought their own advancements and innovations to the engine. It was a no brainer for EA to bring all their titles under Frostbite. Any advancement that takes place in it becomes available to everyone.

The visual quality the engine has a lot of different techniques that rose in Dice’s Battlefield for example, can now be used in FIFA. We can now bring a lot more emotion to the characters thanks to the advanced facial techniques available in Frostbite.”

FIFA 17 is due to release on new and old consoles and PC on September 29. It will also – for the first time – feature a pretty intriguing-sounding story mode. A reminder though, said story mode won’t be coming to the old consoles. Bummer.

In semi-related news, here’s the sort of PC you’ll need to get your next-gen football on:

Minimum Specifications

OS: Windows 7/8.1/10 – 64-Bit
CPU: Intel Core i3-2100 @ 3.1GHz or AMD Phenom II X4 965 @ 3.4 GHz
RAM: 8GB
Hard Drive Space Required: 50.0 GB
Minimum Supported Video Cards: NVIDIA GTX 460 or AMD Radeon R7 260
DirectX: 11.0

Recommended Specifications

OS: Windows 7/8.1/10 – 64-Bit
CPU: Intel i5-3550K @ 3.40GHz or AMD FX 8150 @ 3.6GHz
RAM: 8GB
Hard Drive Space Required: 50.0 GB
Minimum Supported Video Cards: NVIDIA GTX 660 or AMD Radeon R9 270
DirectX: 11.0

The specs are noticeable higher than the ones for FIFA 16 – but the Frostbite Engine does actually run well on that system, so this year’s FIFA shouldn’t be a nightmare on PC.

Will these facial expressions show fake injuries as well as the real soccer players?

On the subject of specs, what would be a decent spec’d PC, that would not break my bank?

Are you a millionaire or sitting below the poverty line? Are you looking for 1080p gaming or 4k gaming? VR? Need to do work on it? Run multiple apps at the same time? Stream?

That question has over a hundred different answers, and very few of them will be wrong. Do some research. Evetech, Rebeltech, Wootware, Takealot. You’re on the internet, it’s not like you can’t put together one for yourself.

Ha ha ha! The last time I built a PC Celeron’s were still the rage, and AMD was the devil that overheated!

Yes, but if you look at sites like Wootware and Evetech – they have well priced pre-built machines. Have a look.

I did thanks. Asked for more details on a specific machine from Evetech. Hope they can do something decent…

Well, people like me. 20 years exp in IT. I am so far removed from hardware, that the chap in my Granny flat installed a HDD for me in home PC last year. I opened it and the connectors were kind of funny looking.

I will also need help and guidance to build a nice-ish gaming PC (Next month, probably). I must ask if I can trust the suppliers of said equipment. I have read numerous reviews and find some contradictory and some useful. A clever IT guy suggested I look for a Nvidia 980 on special somewhere and buy that instead of a new 1060 or whatever. Is that right? Who knows? sounds reasonable, buy Last Gens highest end model, for , hopefully, a bit of future proofing.

If future proofing is your goal, go the latest tech. A 1060 performs on par with a 980 and costs less, even counting the discounts. The only hitch is if you want to SLi, then get the 980s to SLi. Further to this – seriously – look at evetech’s pre-built machines. Find one in your price range. If it’s just for gaming don’t look at the i7’s only i5’s. If you’ll be doing video of any kind or streaming, then only look at the i7’s.

Hey man, price is a big factor in what kind of PC you want.

If you want one around the same price as a console check this:

      Use this link

If you want to check out some other custom builds.

I would recommend making your own parts list and asking Wootware/Evetech to build it for you.

Shout if you need more info bro.

That’s the uncompressed space required but then again Rory McIlroy PGA Tour 16 is 40gbs.
