If you’re still a little confused about the new Hitman from Square Enix and IO interactive, I can’t really say I blame you. Originally set to launch last year as a full-priced title to which new content was regularly added, the game is now going to be sold in a simpler way; as a pure episodic game.
That means that you can buy the first chunk, and if you decide you hate it, never have to worry about paying for the rest of it. If you think you’re going to love the game no matter what you can still buy in to the “full experience,” pay once, and get whatever content comes out over the next while.
The very first episode will be out on March 11.
“The episodic nature of Hitman allows us to craft both individual stories centred on Agent 47’s targets as well as longer season stories involving 47, Diana Burnwood, the ICA and an entirely new main cast,” says IO.
“The structure is inspired by contemporary TV series’ and will unfold over multiple seasons. To begin with, the overall story and the individual mission stories run in parallel but as the first season progresses, the tracks will merge and become one.”
I’m certainly intrigued enough to give the first episode a bash (available to pre order on the PS store right now for R229), but the R799 asking price for the “full experience” is a bit rich for my blood when I don’t have any real idea of how the game will play.
To that end, there is a beta coming this month – but you need to pre order the full game if you want to access it.
“The Hitman beta comes before all of that. February 12th on PS4 and February 19th on PC. The only way to guarantee your access to is pre-order the Full Experience, Intro Pack or Collector’s Edition – all of those will be available on day one; March 11th.”

I still need to play Ablution. 😀
It’s lying on my backlog, but that 25+ Gig download isn’t really drawing me in right now.

It’s fun. The assassination challenges made me replay levels, something I hardly ever do.

I agree, Absolution was great fun, luckily it should be quite cheap to pick up…

I bought it nearly over a year ago for something like R120 along with the Hitman games before it.

Do it. I HATED it in the beginning (since it was totally different as the traditional ones)
But it became my favourite one, by far

This is possibly one of my favourite trailers I’ve seen in a while. Top drawer. Splendid. Groovy. *Sigh* Time to get back to work.

Lets give your game in parts, but you must pay the full amount now.
What bullshit.

Will pre order on PSN to get access to the Beta and just cancel my pre order after that or not.
