The concept art of this cancelled Dune game must flow

Dune (1)

If there’s one franchise that I’m aching to see again, it’s the space-ways and deserts of Dune. But the spice hasn’t flowed in quite some time for that venerable franchise, despite several attempts at reviving it. And this concept art is going to make you want to pull your heart-plug out in despair.

Artists Feng Zhu and Eduardo Pena a bunch of the art that they did for the game that never saw further development, via Giant Freakin’ Robot. The game was called Dune: Ancient Sands, but it’s been in development hell for ages now and will most likely never see the light of day.

While I go drink some recycled fluids from my Bear Grylls designed still-suit, check out the art. The first three images are from Pena, with the rest belonging to Feng.

I remember the fun of Dune 2. Pity they have not been able to revive it.

I know Frank Herbert is gone, and the narrative with it, but SOMEONE needs to pick up on this and make some more games in this universe.

Do you think if we gathered enough kidneys, livers and hearts we could resurrect this?

This article is erroneous. These were made by Pena and Zhu as demos for art students using Dune as a theme, and were never intended to be part of any video game production.

Are you kidding me? where exactly did you get the information that it has been stuck in dev hell for ages? it was done in 1 day for Feng Zhu’s design cinema free tutorials on youtube. Its a pretend live project about production pitching but seems your not interested in journalism based on…facts. You really a crap at your job darryn, this is just story telling. not news.
