The near height of Awesome

There’s no real point behind this post. I have nothing to share, no news to break or anything like that. In fact, I don’t even know why Batman appears on a poster for Mortal Kombat Online, nor do I care. I doubt I’m going to play the game. In my mind the old ‘digital actor’ games in the series remain the best, if only because with all our newfangled 3D technology, no-one has made tearing out a skull and spinal cord nearly as visceral or entertaining. Sure, we might be able to do it now with all the super-duper steroid-pulsing raw power of the next-generation of consoles, but I’m not holding my breath. Besides, then it would only be more real. What MK needs is more cheese.

Still, go here for the full image. It features Bats opposite Sub Zero, who now sports a mask again. That is why this post is the ‘near height’ of awesome. If it wants to reach the pinnacle, that should have been Scorpion…

Talking about mature games, here’s a list of games that apparently should not be rated ‘E’. I think the author had too much electric cool-aid and forgot the difference between ‘restriction’ and ‘moral watchdogging’… Seriously, the first game on the list is accused of latently promoting pedophilia.

  1. Batman is there because MK Online will feature DC comic characters.

Yeah Fox, it looks like they are going to be doing something similar to the Marvel vs Capcom idea. Cant wait to see Supes ripping someone’s skull out of their butt.

I am interested to see how DC is going to deal with the violence being tied to their characters.

I’m worried – does this herald a bloodless MK game? That would really, really, really, really suck.

On the flipside, it could be uber-violent, in which case I’m dying to know what the Joker’s fatality move might be…

    @ James

Kotaku.com has claimed there will be little to no blood and no fatalities.

I hope this is a publicity stunt because I’ve been into the MK series since I was a kid… this next game just won’t be Mortal Kombat.
