The new ID engine… wow

Yes it could be rendered, and yes it could all be a farce but man is that engine looking good. From what John Carmack is saying in the video that racing game has over 20Gb of textures in it which can be changed and shaped at any time (design time) without affecting the gameplay. If that engine is true and not pre-rendered then Epic may have some competition on it’s hands and we are in for a treat.20Gb though? Blu-Ray anyone 🙂

listening to the conference there was only mention of a multi platform engine not just PS3, I don’t think that MS will release HD games, since then they’ll have to release an HD-console, reason being that the transfer rate between the current HD-Drive for XBOX360 won’t be fast enough.

The engine does look impressive and yes it’s realtime rendering 😉

lol @fudzy… John mentions the 360 in that video. Which is why it got tagged as 360 as well.

Just because the demo took 20 Gigs doesn’t mean games will be that big. Games will be compressed and can also be on multiple discs… It’s an engine not a game remember.
