Right now, if you still haven’t played it, you can grab Bastion from Supergiant Games for whatever you want to pay. But that’s an old game already. What does the future have lined up then, for those award-winning developers? Why, a game that carries the DNA of Bastion, but with a sci-fi twist that goes by the name of Transistor.
It’s clear that Supergiant aren’t ready to stray too far from their Bastion success, but at least the game isn’t all isometric views. And those visuals just look sublime, like a mix between west and east sci-fi realities.
In Transistor, players assume the role of a young woman who gains control of a powerful weapon after a mysterious group of assailants nearly kills her with it. Now she must fight from street to street against forces that will stop at nothing to recover the weapon. During the course of the adventure, players will piece together the Transistor’s mysteries as they pursue its former owners.
We expect Transistor to be released in early 2014. We have not yet decided on which platform or platforms the game will be available for.
I absolutely adored Bastion when it came out, thanks to a design feature that made me feel like a whiskey-voiced Sam Elliot was praising my wanton acts of violence. For Transistor, I hope the game also has a narrator that sounds like Alec Baldwin telling me to close the deal.
Man, I did not deserve that coffee.
