The PS3 cost SCi 14 million pounds

Well that is what the maker of Tomb raider has told their investors. Due to the delay in releasing the PS3 which then caused a significant delay in PS2 sales meant that not enough people picked up a copy of Tomb Raider.

Now maybe I am an idiot here but I don’t see how SCi can blame Sony for this one, they are the guys who developed a game for an old platform when they knew that a new platform was on the way? They have now realised that the popularity of the older platforms is now going to decline and they are no longer going to release software for them…

They did however leave this parting shot…

Although SCi said it believed in the “long-term success of the PS3”, it admitted “it may take longer than expected to achieve a commercially successful installed base”. The shares fell 121½ to 398½p.

Why didnt they just skip the PS3 version and make a BC PS2 version for the PS3 instead? Saves them money & time, plus it would look the same too!

True. It then allows them to really invest into making God of War 3 a great PS3 game without having to rush it like Tomb Raider.
