The Vita’s only a week old, but some of you may already have started getting rid of your old games, or swopping them around with friends. The trophy hunters among you might have noticed, to your abject horror,  that you’re unable to earn trophies in your friends’ old games.

That’s right; Sony’s blocked trophies on 2nd hand games.

"You cannot earn trophies in this application. Only the first player to use an application can earn trophies. To earn trophies, you must link the Sony Entertainment Network account of the first player to use this application with the PS Vita system," says a system message that pops up when trying to play a used game.- most notable those few games that don’t require a memory card.

Though it seems as it’s  yet another anti-consumer attempt to curb the sales of 2nd-hand games, it’s apparently a measure to stop people from sharing trophies. Apparently – though I don’t quite buy it. Thankfully, there’s a pretty easy solution from the guys at Pocket Gamer, if trophies are your bag, baby. All you need to do is hold down your touch screen until the “…” bubble appears over the game, press it and the select delete. All data associated with that game will be lost to the ether and you’ll be able to earn your coveted trophies once more.

As a warning, doing this will delete saved games – so don’t do it if you’re just checking out one of your friend’s games,
