Three Speech Closes – EU Blog Opens

The unofficial Playstation blog Thee Speech has announced that it is closing on the 17th of April to make way for a shiny new EU Playstation blog.

But the question has to be asked, Why? Why close a branded site that has tons of viewers and has garnered respect as a specialist PS3 website to open up an even more obvious Sony mouth piece in it’s place?

I don’t quite get the logic at all in this move and it gets even more bizarre as Sony hasn’t confirmed yet when the EU blog is going to start posting.

Hopefully some semblance of rationality comes out of this move but for now it just doesn’t seem to make any sense?

I think it makes perfect sense. why would sony use threespeech when they can have a whole blog of their own.

you mention many viewers – trust me an official eu ps3 blog will have millions more! have you seen how popular the official us blog is!

i must say i’m really impressed with SCEE. in the past month or so they’ve implemented the portable ID (not available on the us playstation site i dont think), and now an official blog. granted these should’ve been had many years ago but still its a change.

there finally seems to be some form of communication form SCEE. they also seem to be the ones communicating about home to the users, and addressing complaints etc…

Oh I am not trying to say having an official blog is bad, but rather just use the brand name that is already there.

Eh? The launch of a semi-official blog called threespeech was met with universal derison, and it never had any credibility at all because everyone saw through it. Threespeech was a joke when it launched and has never receovered – it was particularly feeble about answering questions about anything controversial or important.

If they are getting rid of it to produce a transparent company blog like the US one, I’m all in favour. The US Playstation blog is awesome – it’s a real example of how a corporate blog should be done.

I love reading the developer posts and seeing the passion that guys like Dylan Cuthbert and Dylan Jobe have for their games. Bets reading corproate schills like Major Nelson and 3Speech any day of the week.

However, Sony is being dumb not comitting to a real launch date for the official blog and leaving things in limbo during the transition.
