Mark Rein has been been waxing lyrical about playing Unreal Tournament III on the PS3. According to him UTIII raised the bar in graphical quality which has been sitting happily with Gears for virtually a year now.
It is great to hear that they have resolved any issues that may have existed with the unreal engine running on PS3’s before and I am really looking forward to this game being the summer blockbuster for PS3 owners in South Africa.
People are going to be pleasantly surprised. It’s a really high end experience that pushes the graphics bar up even higher than Gears of War. There’s more polygons, there’s more stuff going on, there’s more explosions and there’s more things happening, so we’re just really pleased with the way the game runs on the PS3
However we may be a little late, while Mark expects the US release to still happen in 2007 due to certification issues the PAL release may only be in 2008. Obviously they want to hit the stores before Christmas so they are doing the best they can….. Hold thumbs…

Seems this is getting better and better. Will get this for the PS3. I can’t see Epic dropping the ball here.

In fairness it couldn’t not be. For all it’s Glorious good looks, once you know how to “look through the looking glass” there are some things in Gears where you can see they weren’t quite there yet. (Which is why I also keep ragging Killzone2)
With a years extra development (and all of Silicon Knights cash ;)) they better have cleaned it up.

Good to see this is coming along nicely.
Is it true that PS3’s UT will allow for mouse/keyboard support too? (I’m against that for consoles, but it’s nice to have the option… i’m just glad i won’t have to play against these people 😉
Pity PAL territories are getting shafted again though. Epic… it’s called region free!
